1 yr vet minimum deal?
genius36 years old.
Out of football for a year.
Not a solid contributer the year before either.
Camp invite, no guarantees? Sure.
Vet minimum with no guarantees is the absolute most I would offer.
You passed on the opportunity to get younger in the draft at that position. What we currently have will not produce results needed. A 1 yr deal for an older edge rusher will be brought in, its just a matter of who. Next year for sure they draft edge early on in the draft resulting in getting younger at that position. We are trying to get younger, pass…
Then consider someone like Z. Smith, DeMarcus Walker, etc. I'd even take Von Miller over JPP. Desperate move. We also shored up our CBs in the draft that you just mentioned, and got a very fast LB to pair with Luvu who could be used for blitzes. I think KC did fine without Jared Allen and managed to get a Superbowl. Hell, we got to the NFC Championship game with what we had last year, didn't we? Agree about next years draft plans, that should be a priority. I'd also like to upgrade at TE.You passed on the opportunity to get younger in the draft at that position. We are trying to get to a super bowl. However that looks like, young, old in between...We are trying to get younger, pass…
Agreed, but I don't think we are there yet. One or two more seasons (hopefully one!)We are trying to get to a super bowl. However that looks like, young, old in between...
I respectfully disagree. JD5 makes it possible as you saw last year. We were a decent pash rush, above avg run stopping defense away from a SB last year. I would personally trade for Henderickson and IF not available, stay put until the opportunity to fill that position presents itself which, may very well be in next years draft. Let's see how this plays out.Agreed, but I don't think we are there yet. One or two more seasons (hopefully one!)
I have no clue why anyone would want to bring in JPP even on a 1 year deal at this point. He's not a bad locker room guy so that's nice, but what's the point? He's 36.5, has been out of football a year... what is that going to accomplish?
I don't expect the Commandoskins D to be that good in 2025 so at this point just start some younger guys or maybe Ferrell decides to do something and call it a day.
Maybe I'm not fully aware how bad your guys' depth is... but if Seattle signed JPP to a 1 year vet min contract I'd be annoyed.
If you guys want a temporary pass rusher, Clowney is a FAR better option and IMO would work okay in Quinn's system.
JPP has been a far better player than Clowney who was really only productive in his 1 year in Baltimore. I think that's why he is being discussed. If it's a reasonable 1 year deal with little signing bonus it's not a bad gamble to see what he's got in camp and simply release him if he is washed.I have no clue why anyone would want to bring in JPP even on a 1 year deal at this point. Yeah that's fair, I had read that Clowney was a disrupter on plays that didn't register on the stats sheet. Still he is clearly a bust as a #1 #1 and perhaps that is clouding my judgement.Well JPP hasn't done anything in 3 years. Clowney was still OKAY for the Panthers last year and Ravens in 2023. He didn't get a lot of sacks for Seattle but he was very highly rated with PFF and was constantly disrupting the OL and getting in the backfield.. Seattle really just had nobody else that could pass rush consistently. But he drew a lot of holding penalties if I recall correctly (and there was blatant holding he wasn't called on in away games).
Clowney from what I recall is also a better run defender than JPP, which the Commandoskins need as you had a bottom 5 run defense last year... and he's 5 years younger. JPP is 36... he's not going to do anything relevant at all, while Clowney will give you something.
I mean whatever, but if I was a Skins fan (I do like the Team in general despite being in the NFC so a conference rival) I'd take Clowney any day over JPP.
Fortunately we didn’t draft him there so we don’t have to carry that baggageYeah that's fair, I had read that Clowney was a disrupter on plays that didn't register on the stats sheet. Still he is clearly a bust as a #1 #1 and perhaps that is clouding my judgement.
