I'd be fine with nobody mentioning Kovalchuk again until he signs somewhere. It's been 3 years of this shit, why does anyone care?

Well, luckily for me it didn't drag out:

Well, it's always good to see a re-building team kick things off with signing a guy who you know is in it for the long haul and won't fade away at the first sign of adversity.

NEW YORK RANGERS REBUILD CHECKLIST
(1) Find a 34-year old winger who hasn't been in the league for half a decade.
(2) Sign a goalie past his prime and pay him $4 million + per in a long term contract.
(3) Tortorella available?
(4) Trade young talent for Milan Lucic.

Wow! They can check off #1. What a specific list!

And somehow, they'll probably make the ECF next year.

I'd be okay with Vignault replacing Torts again.

Nash is off the Rangers and Kovy is on. They get Marchand or Looch and all my hatred will be focused in one place again.

They do have a bevy of quality young talent, though. Much like the Flames, the biggest problems I believe are coaching and management.
Nah, upper management is fine.

Totally fine. Sound and in tune with the modern game.

One thing that's got me wondering this morning, I thought there'd be like 6 fired coaches by now.

My biggest fear is GG will be back coaching the Flames next season only to be relieved of his duties about 10 games in and Dave Cameron will be promoted to head coach. Torches and pitchforks will be the next step.

If Kyle Dubas' likes are anything to go by, it sure seems like Sheldon Keefe is going to be the next Rangers HC. Liked four tweets linking the 2.

Radim Vrbata hangs 'em up
1,000+ games, 600+ points
never a star, always seemed to be a factor

Gold in both WJHC and World Championships for CZE

Pretty solid career, no doubt. You don't luck your way into 2 30+ goal seasons and 284 career goals.

for sure me too

The Humboldt tragedy has probably put some things on hold in the hockey world

/Gully and McLellan are both visiting the survivors in hospital (yesterday and today) ... would be appalling if they got fired while they were doing that

Brad Treliving was interviewed on Fan 960 earlier today - He did say that special teams were a big issue this season and re-iterated that GG is a good coach, but everything will be evaluated.

/My guess - GG is no longer coaching the Flames by next Monday.
