Thanx. But again, the scanner is working at the moment. Scan count is over 500,000, and still going.

System restore renamed one file. crypt32.dll (whatever the fuck that is) became crypt32(2)dll. I wonder if that's the bug, and whether I could delete it?

hope the virus scan works but its my contention that it will find it and not be able to clean it. if that happenes the malwarebytes will easily clean it.

whatever you do, you need these on your computer:

Virus software
Adaware (lavasoft)
Spybot/superantispyware
Registry optimizer
Malwarebytes

all those I have are free, and I get rid of everything that infects my computer.
remember, I am single and home alone so I visit lots of questionable sites.....USED to visit a lot of questionable sites!

DLL stands for dynamic library link. it could very well be the virus, crypt most likely means an encrypted file in the computer libary
