And for those who didn't realize it yet, this is now our longest winning streak since 1985 when we apparently won 13 in a row and I was only 1 year old...Lol
I remember the '85 season well. Tim Kerr was my favorite player then. If I remember correctly I believe we had Pelle Lindbergh as our stopper, Marc Howe, Eklund, Sinisalo, Poulin, Ron Sutter, Kerr, Tochett, Propp, Dave Brown and Mike Keenan as our coach?

Damn this team is hot.. Just keep it rolling. I thought the team may struggle with Streit out for a couple of weeks, mostly on the PP. Hakstol is getting his guys up and playing every game, which is something we have not seen in awhile.
Consistency is the name of the game these days cant ask for more than that.

Well, Ghost is still available on the top unit. Provorov and MDZ can run the second unit easily, although they will get very little time in comparison. I don't think we lose much without Streit when Gudas, Manning and MacDonald are healthy too.

Love the fact that our best offensive and one of the leagues best offensive players drops the gloves and sticks up for his line mate. Love that Jake!!!

Im not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but Wayne Simmonds is becoming quite the penalty killer.

is 13 in a row our longest streak?

I am assuming so. We own the longest ever unbeaten streak at 25-0-10 (35 games), but our current winning streak is already longer than any in that stretch. I don't think we'll touch the unbeaten streak without the possibility of ties, however. Nobody ever will though.

We're barely making a dent here in the race for the top of the conference, but we've left 9th place and below in our dust. Tampa is 9 points back of us and they are struggling badly, as is everyone else below them. Not at all worried about the games in hand. Those teams would have to win a lot of games in a row to even approach us.

The Pens just lost Letang for a couple weeks, so that could be the beginning of the end of their streak. That is a massive loss for them. We shall see.

Not sure what to think of Columbus. They are spanking everyone and Bob is having a Vezina-worthy season. They are on track to have the best record and most points in the Nhl shortly. 18-5-4 is just filthy.

I don't get tired of being right...Lol

Strong period to open up this afternoon. Cousins and Leier work a very nice give and go for the only goal.

That's the 1st career Nhl goal for Taylor Leier and he scores it much like Matt Read (the guy he is replacing) would've, using his speed and tenacity to get to a dirty area, beat a defender to the rebound and pump it home.

I love how we're getting production top to bottom (minus Weise...Lol) throughout this streak, but we have to keep it rolling here in the second period. The Stars are too dangerous offensively if we sit back. Stick it to them!!

We looked a little slow and/or tired in the second period. Tie game entering the third on the road after Mase gives up a huge rebound and Raffl misses some coverage right in front.

These afternoon games often drive me nuts. The refs and commentators are all out of sorts. If these guys call our man "Lyubimar" one more time....It's fucking terrible.

Hopefully we see more of the Flyers we love here in the final stanza and close this thing out. You can clearly see that we are doing more and more with Provorov offensively. Set plays and pinching more in the offensive zone. He could've easily had a goal in that period.

This is just a perfect storm here. We've been riding three lines for most of the game and we look tired. That and it took 57 minutes of play before we finally get a fucking power play. That's truly a joke given some of the plays I have seen in this game.

Dallas played well. They certainly wanted it more than us. Provorov rang iron twice. However, it seemed like he was one of the few skaters on our team that was truly playing to win.

Given the road trip, the time of day and essentially the lack of a fourth line, I can understand if we just didn't have the legs in this one. The effort in the second and third periods was pretty lackluster though, even for just a little fatigue. Too slow to every puck and losing most battles. Passes off the mark, turnovers and missed coverage.

It seemed like Hakstol started suddenly playing the fourth line more late almost as if he either sensed that the team was running on empty and/or to completely shake up the lines to sort of jolt our boys into compete mode.

Yes, Mase can be better with his rebound control, but so can the defender who is leaving a guy unchecked directly in front of the net.

No need to panic. These streaks can't last forever. Get after it on Monday night back in the friendly confines of the Wells Fargo Center.

The main positives from this one are that Mase didn't really lose his mojo, Leier gets his first and Provorov is an absolute stud, right now even.

Yep, always hate to see the streak come to an end, but it's bound to happen. It was a fun ride. Shame the Metro is so damn good that it barely improved their standing in the division. Probably locked up 5 metro division teams in the playoffs though.

Weise is really useless out there. The fan base jumps on AMac and Vandevelde constantly, but at least you can make an argument for them being out there (solid in the D zone). Weise is just flat out useless. He doesn't forecheck hard, he doesn't score, he doesn't play solid defense. He's just a body out there. I hope when Read/Couturier get back that he takes up residency in the Cote suite.

Also, not that these people are on our site much, but the AMac hate has gotta slow down a bit. Everyone points to his advanced stats sucking, but at the end of the day he's one of two dmen with a positive +/- (Gudas). Sure they spend a lot of time in the dzone when he's out there, but they're not allowing goals. That's the key.

Definitely missing Read and Couturier. As Mav said, they're basically rolling 3 lines in most games. The Cousins, Leier, Weise line just isn't trusted much and rightfully so IMO. And it bumps down to two lines when they're trying to protect a lead (Schenn, Konecny, Simmonds isn't much of a defensive line) With Couturier and Read back they'll be able to use 4 lines again.

I don't think we can relax at all here. Keep the consistency and the winning going. If Carolina were to win their games in hand, they are only four points back of us. We would own the tiebreaker however. That's still not much of a safe margin for error. Tampa and Florida would only be six points back with a win in that make up game.

This win streak has mostly just given us a shot at the big boys come division play. Columbus already has a streak of nine. It's unreal.
