Furthermore, I think Raffl could've already had a couple of goals before that clutch, game-winner. One rang iron and another was a glorious scoring chance that he missed. So often you see a guy who has been that good throughout a game eventually bury one.

Unfortunately, our division rivals keep winning too. Gaining ground has been extremely slow and difficult. We're a playoff team right now, but not by much. The Caps and Jackets will pass us with their games in hand unless they somehow lose them all. We would still be a

It seems like the Atlantic division is falling to shit right now and the Metro is only getting stronger top to bottom. It's crazy to think that the top three scoring teams in the Nhl are all in the same division.

I'm looking at our schedule and wondering where the hell all of the division games are for us. We haven't played a rival since the 25th of November and don't play another until December 21st. Essentially, this season is going to be decided late.

An interesting note also. The Nhl is essentially shutting down for three days at Christmas, but we are going six days between games before and after the upcoming holiday. So, there's a serious break coming here for injured or hurt players and practice. Only seven more games between now and then.

Our boys are looking good on this 7 game winning streak. I wish they would keep playing while they are hot. Hopefully they don't cool down from a break.

Definitely not, but several guys have stepped up and taken on larger roles. PEB was a monster against McDavid and Provorov too was largely rock solid. Simmonds finally had a rough game statistically, but he has been leading the charge as of late. Mase obviously has been good for awhile now. Guys like Raffl, Lyubimov and the entire defense have often shined during this streak as well.

We've sort of developed a serious checking line without Couturier and they are doing work right now. The top line is dominant when it needs to be, Provorov is coming along quickly and Mase is making the timely stops we need him to make.

I think we definitely twisted and screwed with McDavid and the Oilers much in the way we have Crosby and the Pens in the not so distant past.

Here's a stat for everyone:

The top five teams in the Metro have won a combined 21 straight games. That's how competitive this deal is right now. Just wait until we start playing each other...

And yes, we're a large chunk of that 21, but it is crazy how well our rivals are doing too.

What can you say really? If we had to pick one guy on the entire roster to get a hat trick for the better of the team moving forward, it would've been Schenn. He is the leading candidate among our core group of forwards for secondary scoring and he hadn't exactly been lighting the world on fire lately either. In fact, he was slumping terribly, so this is a massive boost to his confidence.

This team is filthy clutch right now. Trailing by a goal with only four minutes left against a team that largely held us in check all game long and we not only tie it, but win it with a hat trick and get the empty net goal to give Voracek 8 points in 2 games. Absolutely absurd.

Our power play is now the best in all of the land and as G was saying post-game, we didn't even really get it going for much of that game. The quick-strike offense that we have going here is truly something to behold.

I have to give Hakstol credit for having Stolarz start this one. I thought for sure he would've played yesterday at home instead against a non-conference opponent.

How about that OT? We completely dominated it from beginning to end and look who gets the game winner? It's amazing what an infusion of confidence can do for a guy.

I think Detroit could easily miss the playoffs for the first time in a long time. They just don't have the firepower to do anything other than force OT. Yes, they have a lot of speed, but it's sort of wreckless too.

The power play probably should've scored for us, especially late in the first period. Not sure about a lot of the calls, but it turned out not to change the game much.

Unfortunately, our main rivals keep winning. It's absolutely unreal. When the Rangers finish off the Devils shortly, it will be combined winnings streaks of 27 games for the top five teams in the Metro.

All we are really doing here is pulling away from the bottom half of the conference.

Idk, Colorado has been absolutely terrible, especially on home ice. They will be flying in from Toronto, much like us flying in from Detroit, and it will be their first home game in awhile. Dallas did play us tough, but they have won back to back games only once this entire season.

It's not right to pencil any game in as a win in the Nhl, but these two teams are struggling mightily and we should be able to pounce on them.
