I didn't see the game last night any high points and/or low points anyone can share will be appreciated

Defense and goaltending still shaky. Provorov had a real bad giveaway that led to a goal.

The top 6 looked great again. Manning also looked great (nice SH snipe to win it in the 3rd). Gudas was good.

A little bit under the radar, I thought Lyubimov looked really active. Getting in on the forecheck and banging bodies.

The Couturier line gains the zone with ease pretty much every shift. I don't think they dumped it in once. Voracek looks like hes on a different level than everyone else out there, at least to me.

I am liking Lubimov he hustles on every shift and his hustle cuts time and space for the opponent leading to bad passes and us getting the puck.
Couts offensive ability has picked up immensely this season and Jake is back to himself. That line is killer so far.

Thanks AWAZ

Here's a quick comparison through 10 games vs. all of last season:

Last season:

22nd in offense

15th in defense

11th in power play

20th in penalty kill

This season:

3rd in offense

29th in defense

3rd in power play

24th in penalty kill

So, our offensive numbers have gone through the roof, but our defense and goaltending have been far worse. It's really pretty unreal, so far. I do think having Gudas back helps the defense and the same with MDZ upon his return. Both goalies need a bit of a wake up call.

That and what the hell happened to the aggressive penalty kill in the preseason that was working? It has evaporated into thin air and we're giving up an alarming number of power play goals.

Hopefully this has stabilized lately as we have killed 6 of 7 penalties over a three game stretch. That's some pretty good discipline as well.

I think Gudas is our best defensive defenseman and obviously our most physical, which both help keep the opposing team away from high scoring areas with the puck. It's really good to have him back after the unnecessarily long suspension. He's really playing quite well right now, in my opinion. The numbers back that up too. Gudas has three points in four games and is a +2

The PK may be hurting a little because of so many games in a short time frame. 10 games in 17 days to start the season is tough on regular play let alone the PK.

Lets just hope our defense has had on their Halloween costumes on and now are ready to be themselves again. Our defense was very strong in the second half last year.

Looks liek Boyd Gordon is out a week with the dreaded upper body injury.

That's not a huge deal, especially if we can get Raffl back asap. They said 12 days ago that he'd be out 10-14 days, so I'm wondering when he returns healthy. I am assuming that he is close and we know MDZ is too. I think they both make us better as a team, perhaps more than you'd even expect. Laughton will be back soon too. We just have depth all over the roster this season. Injuries to the bottom six won't concern us.

So, which goalie of ours will be the first to start a game in which we allow fewer than three goals against since the season opener?

Mase gave up only two against Montreal, but we gave up the empty netter to make it three. Every other game we've given up three or more. It's really quite amazing. Scoring is up in the Nhl and we are breaking in a new 19 year old defenseman, but there are no other excuses for this madness. Provorov has shown a lot more good/great than he has bad at this stage.

Either way, this is pretty absurd how we turned a nice win to open the season into another poor month of October hockey.

Raffl is a very good defensive forward and should help us in that department which we sorely need.

It seems like there are no easy games in the Nhl right now, but the Wings are coming off of a couple losses and can't seem to win without Thomas Vanek, believe it or not. He leads them in goals and points. They definitely have a young, fast team as do we. I think we have the edge in veteran leadership and star power for sure, especially while they are without Kronwall and Vanek.

This is basically a must-win game for us, so I expect nothing less. November has to be the month that we steady the ship or this will be over by the end of January. We already have 9 different players with multiple goals, so it's really difficult to pick who scores first these days, but I'll take Couturier.

The slow starts continue and Neuvy gives up a soft one also. Not sure what the hell Streit is doing on the second goal against though. It's his fault that we faced the odd man rush, in my opinion.
