It's awesome seeing Gudas playing all out without taking unnecessary penalties. He still gets his hits in, but he doesn't go overboard with them. I think he is giving the young guns drive to be better.

And Konecny, damn, that kid has some hustle to him. I like his outlook on how he treats each game as if it were a tryout, as he said a few days back. The kid is everywhere.

I heard the Simmonds is having a tough time adjusting to his face shield, which may explain a few missed opportunities here and there.

I liked the one announcers from the Philly stations suggestion the other night. He said they should put a up on the score board 2 goals for the other team so the Flyers come out of the gate fired up and start off the game fighting back. Maybe they would put up big numbers every game.
Who knew Gudas was going to be a solid defenseman when we got him. He has grit and when he plays in control is maybe our best defender.

Konecny is a stud

Simmonds was tied for 7th in the league in scoring i hope he wears a cage next so he can lead the league in scoring

Gee's move in the shootout was unreal.

Neuvy stopping all three in the shootout was unreal

Us having a winning shootout record so far is unreal!!!

IMO watching Gudas last year and this year, and with him taking that 6 game suspension at the beginning of the season.... I thought he was on the outside looking in. But his play and the play of the young guns has improved drastically since his return. We need #3, he had some outstanding saves, and he is still kickin ass and taking names....just glad he's not doing this and taking the penalties that hurt us.

Konecny.....damn.... that kid!!!
For him to tie up the puck on the glass, wait for help, realize help is there, then to dash off the ice for a shift change..... you can't teach that shit. I like the kids heart, and he elevates everyone on the ice with him!!!! Kid is gonna be a stud for many years!!!!

Someone on here brought this up a week or two ago. If our goalies keep playing this way he may take on a goalie roll also.

Yeah, one of the announcers from Philly said that also....

He's crazy and badass enough to do it without the goalie pads!!!

Konecny is actually tied for 4th in rookie scoring and tied for 2nd in assists among rookies. He is on pace for a pretty impressive 55 points.

Ghost isn't quite lighting the league on fire like he did last season, but he's still in the top 20 among scoring from the back end and he was everywhere last night. No points, but played just shy of 22 minutes and had 7 shots on goal. He's still an amazing talent. Even when he doesn't put up points, he is dazzling.

Nothing else to say about TK except that he is a stud and hope his play continues to improve.
Love Ghost but he is struggling in the defensive zone right now. He needs to pick that part of his game up

Well the Habs are gonna be fired up tomorrow- 10-0 for Columbus
Mind you Al Montoya is in net-who in the fuck leaves their goalie in after 7 or 8 goals?

Maybe he'll pull a Patrick Roy,and refuse to play for them again.
lol

Absolutely unreal. I saw this final a few minutes ago and my mind is blown. I know Price didn't play in this game, but Montreal was 9-0-1 entering this matchup and they got beat 10-0? Are you fucking kidding me!?!

And yes, if you're Montoya, you have to be pretty fucking upset after getting smacked around for 60 minutes with no relief in sight.

I mean, after looking at the box score, I would've pulled Montoya after the third or fourth goal. There is zero reason to leave him in there to get shelled for six or seven more goals. I don't think I've ever seen a goalie stay in the net for that many goals against.

Also, the Jackets had four different players score two goals. That I believe is also a first, for me. The irony of it is that Columbus had only scored 21 goals in 8 games to start the season. Then they get 10 goals in one game...Lol

Montoya had 30 saves and a .750 save percentage...

Looks like MDZ returns tonight, so I assume that MacDonald is still injured and Schultz takes a seat on the bench again.

This leaves us with a defense of six that can all play 20+ minutes per game. Ghost, Gudas, Manning, Provorov and Streit all did it in the last game, in fact. MDZ led the team in average ice time last season at 23:25. He's a huge upgrade over Schultz, with all due respect. I'll give him a minute to get his legs, but this defense is shaping up to be something special in the not so distant future.

If you get four past Price, you have to expect to win or at least get points. Montreal has to be one of the most overrated teams in the Nhl. They rely heavily on their speed, but mostly just Carey Price. I mean, they showed his Saturday night numbers. He was 23-1-1 with a .952 sv% and yet we scored four on him. Last night was

Not much more we can do. We completely owned the shots, chances and hits categories, but still come up short. We played a better team game last night, but Neuvy let in a couple of soft ones and Price didn't. Not only did he not let in soft ones, he stopped several shots that only a handful of goalies in the world stop. That was the difference.

It's a tough loss to take with no points, but zero shame in it. Great effort on the road and you can already see how much better of a team we are now from the last time we faced them in Montreal just a couple weeks ago.

I truly think Montreal could've given up ten again if Montoya had gotten the start instead...Lol Price is making them look good. They are a one-dimensional team if I ever saw one.

So, Neuvy faces 17 shots and gives up 5 goals? That's fucking unacceptable. Especially the one he gave up while we were on the second half of that double minor power play. That was a backbreaker. Sick and tired of the below average goaltending. Time for Neuvy to take a seat and put Mase back in.

Adding to my first paragraph above. Last night was easily the worst start of the season statistically for Price and it's not at all because he wasn't sharp. It's because our offense is absolutely top notch and we dominated them, but he still held Montreal in the game long enough for them to get some lucky goals/penalties and grab a lead.

We're never, ever out of a hockey game, but when you call a weak minor penalty on us while trailing by just one with only 2:15 to play and all of the momentum in our favor, that sort of makes it rather difficult...Lol

I also want to mention that it's way too early in the season to be worried about how far back we are in the standings. This team apparently relishes the opportunity of a challenge and an uphill battle so to speak, so we will have it moving forward and I think we can thrive in that role. I also suspect that we'll only get better and better as the season continues. The future is bright and in many ways, that future is just later on in this very season.

i'm really encouraged by the way they're playing. they just have to tweak some stuff and get more reliable goaltending. both of which can happen relatively easily IMO. they played 9 games in 15 days which is ridiculous. get some time on the practice ice, work out some of the d-zone coverages and breakouts (not TOs) and give the goalies a chance to work on things without the pressure of a game.

dominating in shots, chances, possession.. everything except the scoreboard. it's just a matter of time before they start stringing wins together in bunches.
