get 2 back in 2nd to tie up.Another dominant 2nd period

Could we get the scoreboard guys to put up 2nd period for the start of every home game?

Pretty frustrating again. Arizona is giving up more goals than any other team and we let them beat us twice. That's very likely still a team that is going nowhere this season and we let them score a boatload of goals on us through two games.

Despite scoring a goal, I think MacDonald may have sealed his fate in this one with some very poor defensive zone coverage that led to at least two goals against, possibly more. Once MDZ returns, he'll probably be sent to the Phantoms. There's just no excuse for a lot of that play.

I'm tired of seeing our goalies often hung out to dry, giving up a few they had no chance on, then giving up a soft one.

This was a really fucked up game, quite honestly. There was too much "stop and go" for reviews in the third period for us to mount any sort of comeback.

That said, this team just continues to drive us absolutely insane with the slow starts. Yes, we always have the ability to come from behind, but why make the game so difficult? It's been proven that it's much easier for a team to play their game with the lead.

Maybe we need to put 0-2 on the bulletin board at the start of each game as if we're already trailing by a couple...Lol

Essentially, are we ever going to shut a team down and not allow more than one goal to be scored on us, let alone two?

We start slow every single game and it's as if we're spotting everyone a couple of goals on us before the real game even starts.

This is starting to look bad as we have played a pretty east schedule so far. Could it be that we are in our usual pattern of playing non playoff teams like they are the cup champions and when we get to playoff teams we show up.

He isn't eligible for AHL since he is only 19. His options were juniors or big club, that's it. Hextall stresses repeatedly not rushing anyone up. If he felt this was the best option for Provorov then that's it. He has done nothing in his tenure as GM to question his decisions to this point.
Agreed and thats what I thought.

It's very frustrating as we all know they are better than this. It was a very strange game almost like the NHL wanted a win for zona. How they allow the last goal to stand is beyond me...

We're absolutely better defensively. Even after the below average first half last season, we played some pretty strong defense in March and April to recover to 15th overall and then give up only two goals in our last three games against the high-powered Caps.

I mean, we are 28th in goals against right now. It's not even close.

We did a lot of that work late in the season without MDZ also, which is the same situation we're in now. While Provorov has had some rough moments (which is expected of a 19 year old), I think he's quickly becoming a huge upgrade over Schenn or Medvedev. Largely, we have the same defense we did at the end of last season, but with Provorov added and Manning statistically playing the best hockey of his career.

Our goalies are better too, but we've just given up far too many odd-man rushes and the penalty kill isn't as aggressive as we noticed in the preseason. Not sure what is going on there. We can't be letting the opposition score on 24% of their power plays. That's pretty terrible.

While our relentless offense makes for some exciting hockey, it is often a pain in the ass to watch as a fan, because we get started so damn slowly. It's embarrassing to lose two regulation games already in which we scored four goals. If we score four or more, that should be a win, or at least points.

Making the Penguins look bad never gets old. 2-0 Flyers, and in the 1st period, if you can fucking believe that. Fleury has been flopping all over the ice like a fish on land. Loving every second of it.

Despite trailing, I still thought we played well in the first period. One circus shot by Crosby, a weak penalty call and a mistake in very quick succession and suddenly we're trailing.

This is probably the best game I've seen since the playoffs of last season.

Gudas with three keeps at the blue line in about one and a half seconds. Giroux drills it home and then Voracek a penalty shot goal to tie it.

If neither Mase nor Neuvy get extended, perhaps Gudas is available in net. Good lord...

Back on the power play now to end the second.

This has essentially been a game and a half or so of play (easily) in just two periods.

Rivalry is in full swing.

If that trip of Giroux were against Crosby instead, it would've been called a penalty. Just one example of the prejudice of the league and officials against our squad.

It's unfortunate. I think we've outplayed Pittsburgh in this game pretty handily and the game is only tied.

Lol So fucking lucky for Malkin there...

Now we trail in a game that we've largely dominated.

And now a very weak offensive zone penalty on Voracek...

There are no words for this shit.

I'm alright with this. Fleury looked shaky throughout. The Pens make a lot of high risk/reward type plays and were extremely fortunate to win this one in regulation. I think we're right there with them and in fact outshot them 42-27, just didn't get the bounces like Malkin did on the last goal.

I just hate for a game of this magnitude to be decided by such a fluke, lucky goal. Here is Malkin himself on the game winner: "Lucky goal. The puck just came to my stick and I had an empty net."

Had a great view over Manning's shoulder, 11th row or so. Awesome. Fun game to go to :)
