Just came over twitter......

He's suspended 3 games.

And yet a guy like Corey Perry walks free after essentially trying to decapitate our goalie. Dirtiest fucking player in the league, but he gets a pass because he is also an offensive star.

I wonder what Hexy would've done with Perry in the late 80's...

Another slow start, but another recovery and then some. Carolina definitely has some good, young players, but our veterans should put us over the top. They basically did in the form of Read, Voracek and Simmonds. Really great to see Voracek get a couple. No more scoreless slump for him to open a season. Also, Ghost gets a snipe and the power play looked dominant throughout, with either Ghost or Streit at the point. It's also pretty appropriate that the game winning goal turned out to be that of the Ghost.

The pairing of Provorov and Manning also appeared to be a huge success. They both thrived in different ways together. Apparently guys like Manning and Read, who were two guys basically on the bubble of even making the team, are not yet ready to be benched. So, when our injured or suspended guys return, there will definitely be some difficult decisions to make.

If Manning continues to be solid and forces us to demote other guys instead upon the returns of Gudas and MDZ, it only makes us that much better of a team anyway. More power to him for really coming through in the clutch here when his job was potentially on the line.

The same can be said for Matt Read. We had essentially left this guy for dead after having scored 19 goals total through the last two seasons. Now he has five goals in his last four games and is currently tied for 2nd in the Nhl in goals. I don't think he can keep up that pace obviously, but it's clear that he's now a much better and more confident player than he has been as of late.

An interesting side note to this game. The top two assist leaders among rookies so far this season are Konecny and Aho, both 19 year-olds who played in this game. They are also tied for 3rd in rookie scoring.

Damn, MDZ is already practicing and skating with the team. He must be way ahead of schedule. Laughton joins him. Not sure what exactly they will do when these guys return. A lot of options are available.

Laughton may just get sent to the Phantoms. We're scoring plenty of goals without him and he hasn't done much of that in the past regardless.

Would love to see us play some actual defense and support our goalies a little more here. Mase and Neuvy both have atrocious numbers right now.

IMO, Laughton will go to the minors. He's played very few games in the NHL that show he deserves to be there at this point.

On defense, I think Manning has played too well to take him out of the lineup. Ghost, Provorov, Gudas, and MDZ are locks IMO. So it's between Streit, Macdonald, and Schultz. I doubt they move Streit, veteran blah blah blah, so that leaves Macdonald and Schultz. Neither of which who I think have played horribly, but they're not having a positive impact on the game like Manning has been. To me, that should be rather straightforward. Gets a little more complicated when pairing guys though.

MDZ-Gudas (They've looked good in a large sample)
Ghost-Streit (I can't imagine they opt for this pair..)
Manning-Provorov (They looked good in a 1 game sample)

So my guess is they switch Gudas and Ghost.

No shame in the loss last night. We went toe to toe with the hottest team in the league throughout the entire game. I'm not sure how Montreal committed only one penalty, but it is what it is. They get away with a lot of interference and there were definitely some weak calls on us, so I'm wondering why those weren't called both ways.

It's disappointing to lose it late in the third, but that's the best team in the Nhl right now and we hung with them in their building all night long. I think we're getting better with each passing day, mostly due to the fact that the younger players are learning and improving quickly.

Ok, so Gudas can play tonight. I haven't seen the line up but maybe Streit should get a rest tonight. Anyway, I will be there in section 102!

Agreed tight game and price made some big saves. Otherwise they played well and will build on it...

Have a great time! Gudas will keep the front of the net a little cleaner...and impose a little fear! He'll help no doubt.

Why is Prov a lock to stay on this team ? IMO he deserves to get more seasoning in the minors.

With the threat of an open ice hit from Gudas other teams wont have speed coming through the neutral zone either.

Problem is if he goes down it is to Juniors since he isn't AHL eligible. If that happens he can't come back up until after the junior season ends I believe.

Well, that may be the worst period of our season to date. We look bored and completely disinterested. After a loss the night before, I can't fucking understand it.
