Flyers win 2-0. So, our split squads went 0-2 with no goals scored and we avenge both losses to the Isles and Devs via shutouts of our own. Four preseason games played and four teams go scoreless...Lol

Konecny could maybe fill a top six role for us and get some power play time on the second unit at this rate. Literally that line of Konecny, Schenn and Raffl could be our second line this season. It sure looks good to me.

MacDonald seems like he is not yet ready for Provorov to take his spot either. Perhaps Manning is the odd man out this time around.
I watched last nights game as it was on TV here and what stood out most is Konecny is a bonafide stud. Reminds me of Tyler Johnson.

From the play i have seen out of AMAC second half of last season, playoffs and last night he needs to make this team. We need to figure this out and keep him as he is playing like the guy we thought we were getting.

Other notes from last night:
Leier looked good
From what i have seen of Haag in international play and last nights game he is overrated.
Morin looked like a shut down defenseman but still needs some work
Stolarz and Lyon: we arent hurting in the goal-tending department that's for sure.

I remember at one point in the game Wednesday night, MacDonald even hopped onto the ice prematurely, which led to a too many men penalty and then he was out there killing the penalty right away. The guy clearly has a lot to play for and is anxious to preserve his spot in the Nhl.

I am wondering what our defense will look like at the start of the season. If Provorov and MacDonald both make the top six, then it would possibly push Schultz to the bench (where he already is due to injury) and Manning to the Ahl. MDZ, Ghost, Streit and Gudas would be the other four starters.

Manning did alright last season, but I don't think we necessarily want him in our top six anymore. You have to figure that Provorov is an upgrade, even at age 19.

I think they'll keep Schenn on the wing. I was shocked they played him at C last night. I would like to see Konecny make the squad though, probably even more than I want Provorov to make the squad.

Simmonds-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Couturier-Konecny
Laughton-Cousins-Weise
PEB-Gordon-Raffl

Is at least the players I would like to see on the team. Read as the 13th forward. That'd be a nice squad. Regardless, I'll be pretty upset if Vandevelde takes a spot. He's not a top 12 forward under contract, I don't care that he went to UND.

I know it is still early, but it does appear that Konecny is good enough to replace either Read or Laughton on the roster. I'm not so sure that Raffl will be a 4th line guy though. I would expect him to be higher up. I don't think there's room for both Laughton and Cousins again if Konecny does make it.

I also think Weise could be a big body that helps open things up offensively a bit for the third line and also fill in when necessary on the second line. He was really lighting it up early last season for Montreal.

Definitely a good problem to have. Konecny is going to have to bring it to make the team though I think. I don't think Hexy had any intention of allowing him to make the team this season, hence the surplus of forwards. I didn't like Raffl on the 4th line either, but he's not top 6 with that group, and I liked the Laughton-Cousins-Weise line the other night, I think they play like a good 3rd line should. Lots of energy, enough skill to supply some secondary scoring, quick enough to draw some penalties.

It's been a while since the Flyers had too many guys that I wanted to see in the lineup haha

And with all due respect, we probably won't miss him at all. I say that because there are plenty of defenders that will be looking to get more ice here in the next couple weeks. Streit, Ghost, Provorov, MDZ, Gudas and MacDonald to name a few.
All these guys need ice time so its a blessing in disguise.

This kid had a good camp last year and is having a better one this year. He needs to play top 6 for us he can definitely handle that role.

One other item. If he makes the team we need to get him a nickname for this board.

I've seen TKO on twitter a bit. Seems like a cool one to me.

Looking forward to seeing Konec tonight against a more "nhl" lineup. And some of the young blueliners.

Looks like Sanheim has been loaned to the Phantoms and Myers returned to the Q. Now we see if Provorov and Konecny can stick around.
