So we could have a lot of turnover in the bottom 6 this year i'm thinking..

End of last year

Schenn.Giroux.Simmonds
Raffl.Couturier.Voracek
White.PEB.Vandevelde
Laughton.Cousins.Read

White is out.

Lyubimov, Konecny, Weise, Gordon, Weal, McDonald, Leier, Aube-Kubel could all be in competition with Laughton, Cousins, Read, PEB, and Vandevelde for the bottom 6. 13 guys for 7 spots.

I think it's pretty safe to say McDonald and Leier won't make the cut. Aube-Kubel is probably a reach. But after that i'd say it's pretty wide open.

My assumption is they'll want a shutdown line, plus I doubt they signed Weise and Gordon to be in the press box. So I'm guessing one line, labeled 4th, will be:

Read.Gordon.Weise

Leaves you with PEB, Vandevelde, Laughton, Cousins, Weal, Konecny, and Lyubimov fighting for "3rd line" spots. To me, given the Flyers struggles in scoring, you need to get some offensive pop out of this line, so I definitely don't have Vandevelde AND PEB on this line. I'd actually prefer neither of them on this line. I'd say Cousins and Laughton probably have the inside track to the LW and C spots. As much as I'd love to see Konecny make the team, The odds just don't seem in his favor. My hope is Weal takes this spot.

Laughton.Cousins.Weal

If i'm in charge, it basically comes down to Read, PEB, Vandevelde for one spot on the 4th line (edge to Read IMO, though PEB had a great World Cup)

And Weal, Lyubimov, Konecny for one spot on the 3rd line (edge to Weal IMO)

A lot of typing to state the obvious perhaps, but i felt like working that out while i typed haha

PK with Read/PEB/Vandevelde + Coots and Weise + Gordon.

Maybe Konecny gets a few real games while Schenn is serving his 3 game suspension.

I saw a 3rd line of:
Laughton. Cousins, Weise

4th could be a combination of 3 of the following with the 4th siting as the extra forward:
Gordon, Read, Lyubimov and PEB.

If Konecny make the team long term the 3rd:
Laughton. Cousins, Konecny

Weise would drop to the 4th and Lyubimov goes to AHL until needed.

Not sure what happened last night. Not a single goal for either of our split-squad teams...Lol

So in my readings of twitter n such, the big takeaways were:

1. It was AHL (or less) for the Flyers, vs mostly NHL teams for NYI and NJD
2. Alex Lyon was a beast in the NJD game. Stopped 28 of 29 and was under siege most of the game.
3. Provorov played 28+ minutes.

Our team is not deep as it is and when you split the squad it make us much more watered down.

Also can't have the 7 guys that went to the World Cup play in any games til Wednesday i think it is. So no Giroux, PEB, Streit (all still playing) or Coots, Ghost, Voracek, or Neuvirth. So definitely a watered down roster to split up.

Looks like tonight's lineup is..

Schenn - Weal - Simmonds (has been a line most of camp, using Weal as a sub for Giroux looks like)
Raffl - Miele - Read
Laughton - Cousins - Weise
Vandevelde - Gordon - Lyubimov

Schultz - Saheim
Provorov - MacDonald
MDZ - Myers

Mason
????

Really want to get a glimpse of this one. It's on TCN in Philly, wonder if i'll be able to find a stream..

Lots of HOPE on the d-side of things. Sanheim, Myers, and Provorov are the three I'm most excited about back there. It'll be fun to see them play with mostly NHL-ers. Nice test for Provorov too, coming off a 28 minute night.

3 games in the 1st 2 night means a lot of bodies who will be sent down shortly.
