I don't know if we have been last but I know we have stunk in the shootout for years. Our goalies usually are the ones that stink but the very few times where they have come up big in the shootout our forwards have failed.

This is true. I wish we had that one top line sniping winger (or second line even) that also happens to be good in the shootout.

We have close to 60,000 posts on this board, which is more than the rest of the eastern conference team boards combined and nearly as much as all of the western conference team boards combined too.

I guess this is why I pretty much stay here as opposed to the main boards, where most of the other fans stay.

There must also be more Flyer fans on here than of any other Nhl team.

We have our own little world here, for sure.

From what I've seen of Provorov, maybe he begins taking shootout attempts for us sooner than any of us could imagine.

Catching up..

1. I think Mase is the better goalie, but I agree he seems to choke on the big stage. Playoffs, shootout, penalty kill, when the team relies most on the goalie, Mase has struggled.

2. Neuvy still hasn't proved he can play a whole season as a starter. I like them splitting time all season and riding the hot hand in the playoffs.

3. Sucking in the shootout is a major problem. The goalies are bad. The shooters are bad. It's all bad. I don't really see any improvement coming this season. Have to avoid the shootout as best you can.

4. Excited for Provy.

I hit up a few boards outside of the Flyers board, I don't hang in any of the hockey boards just the Flyers.
It's almost like you're treated as an out cast. I don't understand it, I'm trying to learn the game and got slapped around a bit, and when I fired back it was like wtf.....

I didn't come to the hockey boards to troll, I hit up other boards for that, but in the hockey boards......damn.
On the Flyer boards, y'all have been cool as Hell. And I'm learning a great deal, I know I like this hockey team. They are old school smash mouth, and balls to the walls. The way any great team plays any sport!!!!

I think Provorov can not only make the team out of training camp, but have a better season than Ghost did last year. That will very likely push MacDonald to the minors and Manning to the bench as a 7th defenseman.

Both of our goalies could put up some pretty unreal numbers once our defense gets set. Even at age 19, Provorov could be our best defenseman. It's crazy to think that, but I believe it will soon come true.

As long as none of the top four get hurt for an extended period, I love this defense.

With that group, we can afford to give some extra minutes to the younger guys and take the extra load off of guys like Streit and Schultz to keep them fresh in each game and overall throughout the season.

I think USA and especially North America are getting zero respect in those odds, rankings and such. That's some ridiculous talent on the North American squad. Yes, they are young, but absolutely elite level and mature beyond their years. I mean...Gaudreau, Eichel, McDavid, Drouin, Matthews, Monahan, MacKinnon, Scheifele, Couturier and Larkin? Ghost, Ekblad, Jones, Parayko, Rielly, Murray and Trouba? With the Cup Champion goalie in net? Absurd.

I counted 8 Flyers on those squads, which seems like a lot to me. We should not have issues with a slow start this season. Let's just hope we finish strong again and healthier this time around.
