Lets do this thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the goalies play the way they did last year and I do like the way Hakstol rode the hot goalie that will not give us trouble. We need Jake to score again and Proverov to come in and be the rookie of the year and we should be fine. I hope we don't get off to another bad start so we can rest a guy like Gee near the end of the season and get him right for the playoffs instead of having to play playoff hockey the last 20 games of the year.I think the whole thing of them being quiet in the off-season is being overplayed in a big way.
It took the guys almost half the season to play comfortably in the system Hakstol put in place, and once they began to buy into his system, they took off. So with so few changes, it leaves the core group there that have experience of Hakstol's system under their belt.
Would it of been nice to get a solid shooter or two, hell yea.... But also remember that Gee had an off year because of an injury, but Simmonds and Shenn had a career years and Ghost gave us the boost we needed.... So with a healthy Gee and the rest of the guys clicking....We could be onto something big this year!!!!
Big question is goalie......
Steve Mason or Michal Neuvirth....They both complimented one another thought out the year, with Neuvirth proving his worth at the end, when it counted most..... So who is the big dawg in the net this year???

I am a Neuvy backer all the way. I just think we play better in front of him because he doesn't give up so many rebounds. Neuvy is also a better puck handler and doesn't turn the puck over as much. For this season at least I hope they continue their excellent play from last season .But eventually, in the end with the expansion draft coming up..... We are gonna have to make a choice on who to protect and resign. It would be nice to hang on to the both of them, but Neuvy didn't come to Philly to be a back up again, and Mason isn't going to play kindly to being demoted to backup......
The both of them should be playing balls out goalie to get the starting slot, and should make for some damn good games at the net......I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make this decision, Right now IMO I would take Neuvy.....But LOL, I'm new to this and could be wrong!!!!

I hate to say it, but at least so far in a limited amount of games, Mason chokes on the big stage. Otherwise, he's been a fine goalie for us. So, Neuvirth also gets the nod for me. He can prove throughout the season that he's able to play in more games and stay healthy. Mase can't prove he can rise to the occasion in the playoffs until we get there again.
Excellent read and Hexy has been great for us since he has been here.
Nothing against Mason, but I think he gets his ass handed to him more times than not in shoot outs.
As to where Neuvy is a little more flexable and has the quicker reaction than Mason.
Like I said, I am just spitballing from what I seen last season.
Well, our offense needs to wake up and keep us from taking so many games to the shootout also. I believe we were at or near the top of the Nhl for OT and shootout games played last season.
I don't know if we have been last but I know we have stunk in the shootout for years. Our goalies usually are the ones that stink but the very few times where they have come up big in the shootout our forwards have failed. So, I of course looked it up and only Ottawa/Toronto played in more shootouts than us last season. Only Carolina lost more games in OT.
Our 3-8 shootout record was the worst in the Nhl.
