G has had two straight "off" years in my book, although he did finish strong the year before last. Both were likely due to injury - 2 years ago it was his "golf rage" incident that caused a painfully slow start, and last year we found out at the end of the season that he was also playing through injuries. However, those combined down years have dropped him in the rankings and deservedly so. Hopefully this year he comes out healthy and stays healthy, and can reclaim what should rightfully be a spot in the top 10.

I can definitely see your point that the injuries the last two years have dropped him down but how they can put Conner McDavid higher than him after only playing in a total 45 NHL games I cant see that.

If he's at all a smart kid, he will strongly consider signing with the Flyers. I think we're set up to be a contender for at least the next six seasons and by then we will have some new players entering the fold that are elite level.

The only question marks for this team moving forward will be goaltending and how many of our elite prospects make a huge Nhl impact.

To me, our top five (possibly even seven) forwards are rock solid right now and our defense is already pretty good with Ghost, Streit, MDZ, Gudas, Schultz and MacDonald.

We're just missing that one big, strong, goal scoring winger and he could be it.

I really thought we were going to get that big strong scoring winger in this years first round of the draft.

Well, according to Hexy and the Flyers, they did not want a one-dimensional player like Bellows. Rubtsov is possibly a top ten or even five player out of that entire draft and we got him 22nd overall. He is a two-way player that does it all and now we are potentially set at center for many years to come. Perhaps Wade Allison could be the big, strong, scoring winger we are looking for anyway.

I was kind of thinking about a guy we could plug in with this group either next year of the year after and have a real shot at the cup. I wasn't really thinking down the road.

Well, we can sign or trade for that kind of player here in the next offseason as we will have much more cap space with the departures of Streit, MDZ and Schultz. You do have to wonder what number Ghost will be extended at, but guys like Provorov, Sanheim or Morin will be cheap replacements for those defenders.
