The more I think about it the more I'm ok with the Weise signing. He probably will fit best on the 4A line with Laughton and Cousins, with Read on the 4B line with Vande Velde and Bellemare (or Gordon), to spread out the size. The bottom 6 remains a bit of a weakness, as does having Raffl remain in a top 6 role. But, Weise is bigger, faster and slightly more skilled than White so they get some improvement there. Hopefully Laughton and Cousins take a step forward and Read doesn't continue to decline.

The Boyd Gordon deal is only $950k for one season. We can certainly live with that for a faceoff man and penalty killer.
Now I guess Weiss may be looked at for 3rd line.

It's easy to forget this, but Montreal started out the season 19-4-3, despite eventually fading and missing the playoffs. Weise was a large part of that early success with 9 goals and 15 points in those first 26 games. These certainly aren't 4th line numbers. I think he's an upgrade over our entire bottom six.

Totally agree he's not a bad player and will score a few more goals than white. This team needs that.

Reilly Smith gets 5 years, $25 mil. Doesn't bode well for Schenn from a team perspective.

We could use the early success too. We've had a slow start to the season in four straight years. It's really getting old.

Unfortunately Schenn will probably get that $5 million or more, but he's earned it. Last season was a serious boost for him. 26 goals and 59 points. I still can't believe he is suspended for the first three games though.

interesting that they mention Jimmy Vesey in the Flyers section. First I've heard of the Flyers dabbling there. Would certainly make sense from a Flyers' perspective, but I haven't heard any one else mention any mutual interest.

I'd be stoked if they could pull that off..
I'm right there with you I have heard him rumored to go to several other teams and the Flyers weren't ever mentioned. Lets go Hexy pull it off.

Hexy is loading the Phantoms up. He wants the kids to experience a winning environment, no doubt.

They're going to kick ass this season.

Wouldn't shock me if Schenn scores 30 next year he has it in him. He deserves a raise just not sure how much.

The suspension was complete BS....only the Flyers get that kind of shit.
