I hear ya, but in trying to put myself in the shoes of one of the top college free agents, why would they want to sign here? On the D and G side, the Flyers already have better prospects than anyone currently available. At F, the top 9 are probably already set for next year as it stands now:

Konecny-Giroux-Voracek
Weal-Filppula-Simmonds
Schenn-Couturier-Weise

Weal could be lost in the expansion draft, but that's looking increasingly unlikely. Weise's spot in the top 9 is far from secure but that might be it, and Lindblom might already be knocking on that door. I could see them signing a 2nd tier free agent, but I doubt they get one of the top half dozen or so.
Weiss spot should be up for grabs to the first player who we sign even if he has one leg. Not to mention Flipper is gone after next season.

I posted this a few pages back, but if these players are truly ready for signing do they have to enter the draft? I couldn't see teams being able to just chuck money at them?

They went undrafted, so they are now true free agents.

Eligible Players
Players who turn 18 by September 15 and are not older than 20 by December 31 are eligible for selection. In addition, non-North American players over the age of 20 are eligible.

A North American player who is not drafted by the age of 20 is an unrestricted free agent. All non-North Americans must be drafted before being signed, regardless of age.

Number one on the list Reese already signed by Pitt.

Well unfortunately they have the better offer right now.
Unfortunately you are correct about the better offer but if they wouldn't sign with us because our top 9 is solid and our D is young and coming why would a free agent sign with Pitt.

Maybe they think it's a quicker shot at a cup? Believe it or not the Pens still have a couple of holes. They are not as hot as they were last year at this time.

The Pens are one big HOLE, the fans in Pittsburgh call it Crosby.

Put yourself in Vegas' shoes. What would you want in order to take MacDonald? I'd think at LEAST a 2nd, and that's assuming there's no one else on the Flyers draft list that I really wanted.

This is one of many reasons why we should've gotten a 2nd rounder for Streit
