I'm ok riding this out with the players in the organization. I don't think that the caps would trade with us anyway. The problem with Whitney is that he's a forward playing D not something that's needed...

I'd prefer a guy like Steven Oleksy but I agree that I'd rather them stick with what they have than to sign a guy like Ryan Whitney - he's absolutely shot like I said earlier - he couldn't stick in Florida last season and he couldn't crack St. Louis's roster this year so he's someone who's not really an option

I'd rather them make a move for a plug (whitney) than a more solid 3rd pair guy that costs pieces, even if they are low draft picks.

Signing Whitney to fill in for a month doesn't hurt you at all long term. When the guys heal you can bury him.

I have also read that scouts are waiting to see him play to determine his conditioning. This wont happen until Wednesday. I think the key to thinking about Whitney is that Hexy is thinking 2 way contract. Hexy sounds like he is not giving out NHL contracts like the old regime. Last thing the team needs is to get stuck with another 3rd pairing dman. Our 3rd pair isn't the problem. The problem is that we have too many 3rd pairing guys playing 1st and 2nd pair minutes. Its time to weather the storm and see what some of the younger guys can do.

Ryan Whitney is washed up - he's nothing but a 3rd pairing guy and maybe even worse - if he was a decent guy he wouldn't be coming to teams on PTO's

Anyone that would be available would be a 3rd pairing guy. Olesky is nothing more than 3rd pairing and he is 28 and stuck in the minors. Whitney is on the radar as Hexy believes he would sign a 2 way contact. Since we already have 4-5 3rd pairing guys, I don't think trading for another is the way to go.

I wonder why we wouldn't just go with Laurdison instead of making a move for Whitney or Olesky. If we want a third pairing guy we have one in Laurd and dont have to give up anything.I really don't understand why he is not getting a chance.

Here is my way off the wall theory. Hexy is on the record that he wants the young guys to season in the minors. He doesn't want the young guys up but he has a talent in Ghost. Even after a solid debut, Hexy has said Ghost is up on a day-to-day basis. As long as Ghost is solid, he has a good shot of staying. Hexy can sit back and say that he wants to return him, but has no other options. If Ghost struggles, look for Manning or Laurdison. For now he doesn't want a young guy to fill in at 7. The Phantoms are close enough that they can recall someone quickly if necessary. I see them staying with 6 for the short term.

Hagg and Manning are logging massive minutes for the Phantoms right now. On Saturday Hagg played 31 minutes and Manning played 36 minutes (according to assistant coach Riley Cote). I just don't think the Phantoms, and therefore the Flyers, have a ton of faith in Lauridsen to play extended minutes like they do with Hagg/Manning. Though, to be fair, Rotruck didn't tweet out Lauridsen's number, he may have been real high too. They don't keep that as a stat in the AHL, but the coaches do.

He's seemed fine to me when he's played for the Flyers. Nothing other-worldly, but he's been fine. I would agree w/ letting him play over trading for someone, but I'd rather sign Whitney than play Lauridsen. Assuming Whitney's contract is like 800k, two-way.

After seeing Ghost play Saturday night I don't think he is going to struggle at all and continue to get better. I guess we wont see Manning or Laurd unless someone else gets hurt.

I was calling for Laurd only because I thought Hexy wanted the kids to develop in the minors and people were talking trades such as Whitney and Olesky. My point was if you bring up Laurd then the kids still develop in the AHL and we don't have to make a trade and Laurd is not that bad of a replacement.

I think the Flyers should try to void A Macs contract as Homer had to be incredibly high and could not have had the capacity to bind the team. Simmonds is signed for 4 more years at $3.75/per. Homer hit the crack pipe and said, lets sign A Mac for 6 more years. He took another hit and thought $30 million sounds about right. It may be about the same time as he signed Vinny.

Looks like Razor again tonight. Did not see line up or pairings other than Rinaldo should be back and playing with Akeson and Vande Velde. Also Ghost playing w/ L. Schenn. I am assuming:

Rafll - G - Jake
Simmonds - Frenchie - Schenn
Read - Couts - Umberger
Akeson - VV - Rinaldo

Streit - Grossmann
MDZ - Schultz
Ghost - Schenn

Carter has been on fire to start the season and many articles revisiting the trades of Richards and Carter. I want to smack those that keep talking about whether the Kings or Flyers made out in the Carter trade. Since we traded Carter to Columbus, its not an issue. Anyway, I really want to see the Carter - Couts match up tonight. Playing at home allows this to happen. Couts held Crosby to ZERO points and I want him to neutralize Carter. Carter was one of my favorite Flyers and I still have his jersey. Couts is becoming my favorite Flyer and its a good match up.

Nice to see Coots at the top. I think he is winning more faceoffs this season because he is noticeably bigger this year.

He is 11th in the league of those with at least 150 draws. He is up to 197. Only 21 so I would think he isn't done filling out.

Dam Rags score 5 goals in the third last night vs the Wild who had only given up 6 for the entire season. Did they have to pick the Rags to collapse against UGH!

I have a Carter t shirt and still wear it around. I wouldn't say he was one of my favorites, but I enjoyed watching him play in Philly. The shirt was a gift btw. I have not used it for a rag to clean windows yet.
