Agreed. The Blackhawks have definitely gone in the opposite direction of the Flyers - started out strong, and have faded somewhat since Jan 1 or so. I was surprised they were so quiet at the deadline, they don't quite have the horses this year unless the playoff match-ups go perfectly their way.

Anyway, good to see the Flyers tied for 2nd in the Conference since Dec 1. From Dec 16th on they might even be first.

This is why I like our chances to clinch the second seed and be a very dangerous team come playoff time that nobody wants to face. It's because we have improved consistently throughout the entire season. We're playing better hockey right now than anyone else in the conference and I still think there's room to get better. It's very encouraging and exciting to think about moving forward.

I'd even suggest that Giroux could catch Crosby in points and the Flyers could catch the Pens in the standings if there wasn't such a large deficit to start the stretch run with or if we had a bunch more games to play.

Well, I think Holmgren painted himself into a bit of a corner on this one. Other teams knew the Flyers basically HAD to deal him.

It figures that the fucking Jackets, Caps and Devils would all win their games last night too. Five teams separated by four points. At this rate, I feel like Tampa and Detroit could miss the playoffs and the Metro division could very well send five teams to the playoffs.

Regardless, I don't think the Atlantic can hold onto both wild cards. Detroit would lose a tiebreaker to anyone minus the Caps and Leafs.
