I concur since the 90's with the NFL lieing but I would think that men would know that with a contact sport that there is a high risk. I would wager that even if they told them the truth since the 90's that 95% would still sign a waiver and play
The problem is that if even 5% of the kid decided to play something instead of football, the league would lose its competitive advantage in terms of talent, at least that's what the NFL claimed when it was covering up studies on head injuries.

I agree, Doob, but I love NFL football so much that I am prepared to turn a blind eye. Sick? Yeah, but it's easier to live with than life without the NFL.
I don't think that this will bring down the NFL. All I'm asking is that for the people who were behind the cover up to be held accountable.

I guess I just see this more like the women who sued McDonald's for burning herself with hot coffee.

It's more like what the tobacco companies did until the 1970s, and got away with until the 1990s.

Something else most knew it was harmful. I know as kids we kept telling mom and dad to quit smoking, because it was unhealthy.

I don't think you have to love it or leave it, otherwise nothing changes & no one is held accountable.

Bad news for all the pie in the sky fans on here, hold onto something now, here it comes; The whole world and all in it is imperfect....Yes, including the mighty NFL....
I despise RG but not because of Deflategate, and the players with all the knowledge they have about the dangers of playing football at this level, still choose to do so because of the potential rewards it offers....
It's no different than explosive experts that put their life in danger everytime they go to work, a policeman, a fireman and most of all our military....
They make a choice for whatever reason, to take the risk.....For some it pays off, for others, not so much...
Football players have the least right to complain IMO for all the money they get for the risk...:2cents:

Nice misuse of singular versus plural. Very underrated stylistic affectation, in my opinion.

I thought the NFL was fined 765 million dollars. When you say accountable.....

please elaborate.

More money? How much more, will it take. Cause as a result of such a massive settlement, that only motivates the scum bag PI attorneys to get more clients who have blown all of their money.

How much more money. 765 million is not enough?

The deal applies to only 4,500 out of 18,000 who are also eligible for litigation, so if I were to come up with an estimate, I would say approximately $3.06 billion.

Oh my.

With that much, expect the number of liars who claim to be "suffering" from concussions to jump from 18000 to......

So, you really think all of those 18,000 are really suffering from......concussions they got from playing football. All of them eh?

None of them are lying in your book? All of them....are just telling the truth about their condition?

I mean, with 3.06 (why not just a round....3 billion. What is with the .06?) no one would be motivated to....oh, exaggerate their condition? Naaaah. Of course not.

I did find it funny how Dan Marino tried to get in on that action. I mean....did he really ever have an actual documented concussion. He was hardly ever sacked in relation to oh.....other QBs and he hardly ever scrambled.

He, for some odd reason, withdrew his name from the lawsuit after the hype about his name being put on the list of players.

Sigh.....

You have any idea what 3.06 billion dollars will do? Do you see it or not? What percentage of those 18,000 are 100% affected by concussions?

18,000/4,500 = 4
4*$765,000,000=$3,060,000,000

Ok.

So, you think they are all legitimately telling the absolute truth and they are all truly affected by the concussions?

None of them motivated by a nice pay out? None?

We'll have to take it case by case, but if they are all legitimate claims, the NFL better be ready to give out that amount.

BTW, $765 million is NOTHING for the NFL, even the Jacksonville Jaguars are worth more than that.

Something else most knew it was harmful. I know as kids we kept telling mom and dad to quit smoking, because it was unhealthy.
When I was a kid, I did not hear that smoking was harmful. I saw the Marlboro Man and Virginia Slim on the TV.
I never have smoked ever, not because I heard it was harmful, but because I used to get sick in the car with my mom and dad smoking. I now have nodes in my lungs from second-hand smoke. The tobacco companies squelched the talk about cigarettes. That was wrong. Period.
