Stan agrees.

I think the Champions League is the toughest trophy to win in sports, even with the modern competition being basically a cartel for the wealthiest clubs. Some of the greatest club managers ever can win one and go the rest of their careers not touching it again despite winning more domestic leagues.

That said, nobody has had as many tries with an unlimited bank account as Guardiola. He took a Bayern team that had just won the thing and got fucked up in consecutive semi finals by Real and Barca. This last minute collapse today was spectacular. It’s a lot of failure at that stage.

Good for the Sounders. Two of the three Cascadia teams in MLS have a pretty good record of success. The other one um not so much.
Seattle is the premier team in the league right now, and you can argue of all time.

Last time Real Madrid lost a final was to Liverpool... in Paris. Let's hope it happens again.

On Jan. 1 United were 4 pts out of a CL spot with a game in hand on 4th place Arsenal. They had just brought in Ralf to get them through the season and said he had full confidence to make changes.

Anyone with eyes knew this team needed at least a striker and probably a winger too, and the guys he names are very good.

Absolute travesty they are where they are.

Thing is, ownership gives them money to spend. A lot of money. At no point post-SAF have they not spent heavy, the problem is a lot of the players bought fucking sucked (Maguire, Diallo, Daniel James etc.). But they paid that money and when you do that playing CL football is basically a must.

So was it their Director of Football John Murtough who nixed the request? If so wtf was he thinking with them having a winnable CL tie with Atleti on the cards and a top 4 spot within grasp despite a shit run of results? Even if he knew Ralf wasn't sticking around past this season I don't think any manager they bring in was gonna be upset that they bought Vlahovic or Diaz or Darwin etc.
