As explained in the Team-by-Team Thread, I am planning on making a thread every three days for a different team. The first few posts will be questions, requests for predictions, etc. There will be a poll unless I don't feel like making one. Some teams are less interesting than others.

Not a projection of next year. I mean, would I predict the Cavaliers as low as they appeared or the Heat as high? It was just the order they finished in the playoffs and then record for non-playoff teams.

From the other thread;

And btw, yes I do think the Lakers, barring any major injuries like we had last year, will win close to 50 games this year.

Look Shaqdaddy,

I've never had a problem with you. However, in the wake of Dr. Buss' death, I'll believe this ownership can build a winner when I actually see it.

This might be difficult for someone like you to believe, but the entire basketball world does not revolve around who loves and who hates the L.A. Lakers. Some of us might not care for them but can still respect what they accomplish. Believe it or not, I rooted for you guys in 2002 vs Sacramento since I thought the Kings were the whiniest team in the league at the time.

If the Lakers win 50 or anything close this year, I promise I will call you out and give you your props.

Until that happens, you're a 27-55 ball club and I don't have to prove my fanhood to you. I'm a Cubs fan for heaven's sake.

Get off your high horse and deal with it.

I give them a punchers chance to get the 8th seed with a healthy Kobe.

But, I have a hard time seeing them besting the Pelicans, Suns, Nuggets who will be fighting for the last 3 spots along with the Rockets and Griz.

They'll miss the playoffs again.

If this were 2010 and Kobe was still an elite player, 6th or 7th would be reasonable and 8th would be likely. But it's not. Coming off two bad injuries, we don't know what we're getting. Plus, even if he is 100% healthy, at his age, his elite days are over but he can still be All Star worthy. But one all star worthy player isn't enough to get you into the playoffs, especially not in the West. Unless Julius Randle is a beast from Day 1, I don't see enough for the Lakers to make the playoffs. They'll be better because they'll actually be fielding NBA level players this year with Lin, Boozer, and Randle (and I think Ed Davis can do good things this year) but it won't be enough. I say between 35 to 38 wins

What the hell more do you want? To add the Lakers as one of my favorite teams or something?

I already said if the Lakers approached 50 wins, I'd call you out and give you your props (and judging by your attitude, your 15 minutes of fame as well).

Lakers make the playoffs and shock the #1 seed....then I woke up. Seriously, with Scott at the helm, renewed sense of playing any semblance of a defense, guys having played together, Kobe, Nash, and mix of youth and vets, I like our chances of being one of the 8 teams.

A lot is going to have to go right for the Lakers to make the playoffs, mainly health. With a healthy Kobe, there's a chance. All indications point to him being healthy, so there's reason for optimism.
