Now that the chances of the Lakers signing Irving anytime soon continuing to decline and the three-team trade to move Westbrook gaining a bit more traction, the chances of James signing extension are improving. The key will be, based on leaks, that the Lakers giving a commitment to James that if Irving becomes available near the trade deadline, that they will move to sign Irving. But we shall see what transpires between Training Camp and the Trade Deadline.

Took a trip down memory lane.....watched a Kobe tribute video and noticed how good things were when they were good with Kobe and Shaq. Kobe jumping into Shaq's arms after winning a ring, Kobe riding Shaq piggy back style in the locker room on the way somewhere, and Kobe passing to Shaq between his legs when Shaq was trailing behind him.....

West was with the Grizzlies at the time, no longer associated with the Lakers.....and he's the reason I think Kobe stayed.

I have said this before but I believe Jeannie Buss would do herself a favor to swallow her pride, call Jerry West to have a face-to-face, and do a mea culpa with the Icon to come back to the Lakers as a the GM. Give him the power to make all personnel decisions and then get out of the way and let him build the 18th Championship team!!

Now that KD and the Nets management had a kumbaya moment in LA, he ain't going anywhere which means Kyrie ain't going anywhere even at the trade deadline unless it falls apart in Brooklyn. This means the Lakers really need to focus on going back to trades that moves Westbrook with Utah and Indiana. The Hield/Turner trade should be the one they go after but we shall see.
