Our bench would look like this:

G-Walker
G-Hield (if Harris starts at SG)
G-Christie
F-Toscano
F-Brown
F-Johnson
F-Gabriel
C-Bryant or Jones

We'd need a backup PG so that would be a need for say 10mpg. Still some decent ones available.

That would give us 14 players. Pippen and Swider on 2-way contracts.

Yea. I like your GM moves DJ. One big happy family in LaLa land. I'll send Jeanie an email and advise her to hire you as an assistant to Pelinka. I am sure you would oblige but I would get a small fee for the advisement.

The deal is done for Irving to the Lakers. The Nets are just trying to find the best deal for KD. They want to announce both deals at the same time, should be no later than the 23rd. Per my buddy at Yahoo.

Windhorst brought up a great point.....it's easy to do these fantasy trades but in the reality of the NBA it's hard for a team to give up 36 million without hurting their roster.

If we do keep RW and don't trade him.....I am curious to what Ham's plan is. I bet it is to bring him off the bench as a 6th man candidate.

But, I really don't want him on the team next season.

I don't either. The dude is a cancer and now there apparently is a major rift between Westbrook and James that can be witnessed in public. Now you have the James camp and the Westbrook side. The Summer league demonstrated that teammates are gravitating toward James so Westbrook appears to be persona non grata. Shoot even the FO wants Turner and Hield over Irving but then they would have to find another team to take Westbrook which may happen.

What happened between James and RW? Missed that.

It is in this ESPN article I posted on the Off-Season thread. Here it is. You can decide for yourself if there is any truth to it.

I would think by now that the Lakers FO would like to just move along from Irving and take the Turner/Hield option and then before the trade deadline, try again with moving Westbrook. If this article has any truth to it, the Lakers appear to have finally learned their lesson in mortgaging their draft capital just to get another hyped player that may or may not contribute to the building of another championship. I think that the longer this goes without resolution, the more the Lakers will move on from James AND Irving and concentrate on supporting their new coach who really does have some good ideas and practices that will get them Number 18. If SA steps in, it may cahnge tings, but again, the Lakers are becoming increasingly adamant about giving away future First Rounders.

I say fuck it.....defy James and call his bluff. RW and THT plus a 1st and a 2nd for Turner and Hield. Turner is an expiring contract and Hield is under contract for 2 more seasons.

G-Nunn
G-Hield
F-James
F-AD
C-Turner

That's a nice starting 4 and assuming Nunn is healthy he gives us a nice starting lineup. We'd need a backup PG in position only since James is the de facto PG. There are still some decent options available.

Bench

Walker
Reaves
Christie
Toscano
Brown
Johnson
Gabriel
Bryant
Jones

We signed Bryant and Jones but we could always flip one of them around the deadline for a future 2nd rounder.

If James walks next summer we can always bring back Turner and sign Irving if he really wants to be in Los Angeles.

I loved Eddie but he had to be traded so Kobe could start and turn into the legend he did.

Eddie had his best seasons with Charlotte and Miami.

Joel reiterated this last night in a late night text. He there for summer league.

Said it should be done by 17th. Said Marks is trying to get the best deal for KD and will announce both trades at the same time.

He also said it's POSSIBLE they add Hield, but not Turner.

That would give us a lineup of:

Irving
Hield or Walker
James
AD
Jones/Bryant

Walker or Hield......bring Hield off the bench as our 6th man sniper?
Christie
Toscano
Brown
Johnson
Gabriel
Bryant/Jones

We would need to add some more FA's, especially a backup PG.

Pippen and Swider on 2 way's.
