Shocking Russell has career best FG and 3 Pt % as he is set to enter FA after the season, just like every other guy that has career years when they are set to be FA.

And can the Lakers even afford to re-sign him with what he is going demand.

Hopefully they get better playing with LeBron, but other than getting younger, I don’t see this trade moving the needle this season and beyond.

Per one reporter:

Even if you channeled your inner Dr. Strange and replayed this era in 1000 alternate timelines across the multiverse, it’s hard to imagine this scenario playing out worse than it did in this one. The good news is that the Lakers have moved on from Russ and now can attempt to move back into the playoffs with a team that is better than it was yesterday. The bad news is they are worse off after Russ than they were before Russ, and wasted a year and a half of LeBron’s remaining good years and multiple first-round picks in doing so.

Part of that is he has become more of a support scorer behind Edwards (and KAT when healthy). That role could fit right in quickly with the Lakers.

Reportedly, the Lakers may be extending him, which makes him a solid trade piece if needed this summer. (The spectre of Kyrie still roams....lol)

If Pelinka can move Walker and Bev to keep Bryant, that would be ideal!

I think the Lakers would need to use at least part of their MLE to keep Bryant at this point. Maybe moving Bryant now for a Birds rights replacement would make sense now.

If nothing else, it will be nice seeing the Lakers roll into the summer without needing to refill their roster with 10 more vet min contracts again. That continuity should keep them from starting so slowly.

12:07 p.m ET: The Los Angeles Lakers are trading backup center Thomas Bryant to the Denver Nuggets for Davon Reed and three second-round picks, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Bryant has averaged 12.1 points for the Lakers this season.

Why in the hell did the Lakers make this move? They needed to keep Bryant as not only a sub for Davis, but as insurance in case he gets injured again.

Rob went from hero to moron pretty quickly.

Bryant wanted out and was more or less a defensive non-entity. Earned a sizable raise for next season that the Lakers wouldn't be able to provide (a la Malik Monk). He was going to lose more minutes to Vanderbilt.

I am very very happy with this trade deadline.

Got younger, better shooters and above all, we got rid of a $47m bench player who led the league in turnovers and cost us quite a few games

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but this is not a team any team would want to face in the playoffs.

LeBron is out for tonights game against the Bucks.

They sit 5 games under .500 ( about to be 6 after tonight ). LB and AD constantly missing games throughout the season is not helping the team catch up in any way.

Good thing they got younger after the trade deadline, so they have something to build around as these 2 continue to deal with father time.

So the Lakers move Bryant who wanted out to Denver for Davin Reed and three Second Rounders. So Pelinka got those three Second rounders back that he gave the Wiz to get Hachimura and he moves Beverley and Bryant and brings back Mo Bamba who started with the Lakers. The D'Angelo Russell return was a good move I like what Pelinka did before the trade deadline and perhaps he got some cap relief by dumping Westbrook's, Bryant's and Beverley's salaries to sign Walker. Good moves.

Just reported that Beverley will not be required to report to the Magic as they got a Lakers 2024 Second rounder and some of Jeanie's money. So Beverley has been bought-out and is FA which can bring him back to the Lakers to finish the season.

Actually only got 2 second rounders per the article I posted.

Walker won't be brought back.
