Angels in the Outfield - watched it with my kids last night. Personal childhood favorite of mine.

I forgot how many decent names were in here...

Danny Glover
Tony Danza
Christopher Lloyd
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Jay O Sanders
Tony Longo
Brenda Fricker
Neal McDonough
Adrien Brody
Matthew McConaughey
Taylor Negron
Dermot Mulroney

I mean most of those guys really didn't do much outside of the 90's but still, brings back some memories. McConaughey, Brody, and Gordon-Levitt are really the only ones to escape the 90s successfully lol.

I'm not big on 'feel good' movies - but I count this as one and I just love it.

Alpha....supposed to be a story of a boy and a wolf. 30 minutes in, no wolf, had to read the dialogue, I am out. Sucked.

Anyone ever see House of games? Possibly the best movie no ones ever seen.

I watched this last night and I have to say that I really didn't like it. The problem was the actress Lindsey Crouse. Idk is it was a conscious decision of hers to play the role in a stilted, almost catatonic manner because that is what the character called for, or she's one of the worst actresses I've even seen. But her face and the way she delivered her lines rarely revealed any emotion. Maybe that was intentional.. idk, but it really was distracting and took me right out of the story whenever she opened her mouth. Everything else about it was cool but she was the star and received the most screen time. My wife really enjoyed it fwiw.

I respect your opinion. I didn't get bothered by her performance that much. To me it was her character . She wasn't supposed to be the street wise person the others were and in my mind she played that well. But I will keep an open mind next time I watch it. To me the story line was the star not her.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone and like you say, maybe it was for her character. It got great reviews. I looked her up and she had a decent career and was even nominated for an Oscar for another role, so it was probabaly a conscious artistic choice for her to play it that way. She was also Mamet's wife at the time. She just rubbed me the wrong way.. emotionless, almost catatonic. I didn't get what she was shooting for with that. I honestly would have turned it off, but my wife was digging it. It's probably just me.

It's really one of those movies that you might not enjoy fully until you finally see the last few scenes and then the whole movie makes sense to you. As for her I just took it as her character must have been going through something or had gone through something to even be in that position. So her acting kind of catatonic or a little weird made sense to me

I just finished up "The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez"

If you feel like being upset at the world, it is a great program.

The United States of Leland. A young Ryan Gosling inexpicably murders a mentally retarded boy and everyone wants to know why and what he's all about. I enjoyed it. There were some good performances. Definitely worth a look on cable. But it got a 34% on RT .. 81% from the audience. I think I'm growing increasingly out of step wrt critical consensus on RT. I'm with the audience on this one. 7/10

No Direction Home. A documentary about Bob Dylan by Scorsese. A must for fans of Dylan or that period of time in popular music. It covers 61-66. I'm one so 9/10.

Sand Castle (2017)

Movies based on true events don't always payoff... This movie was a very dry experience. It had some decent action sequences towards the end, but the vast majority of its runtime was very dull. Not a bad film, just not as exciting as the trailer made it out to be. The story itself was a harsh reality of what some of these soldiers had to endure, but it didn't do a very good job of connecting us with the characters. Nothing about this film felt gripping. And casting Henry Cavill was a complete waste outside of a very funny scene where they meet with the Sheikh of that city they were trying to pump water to. They would have been better off casting Cavill in the Sgt role that Log Marshall-Green did. Would have been a lot more compelling.

5/10

Just finish Peanut Butter Falcon. I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't really been a fan of Shia LeBeouf, but he did a good job here. 8/10

The Professor and the Mad man. ..I watched with no preconception knowing the actors. I liked this movie. Penn's performance was intriguing. Imagine given the task of creating one of the first dictionaries.

I watched Bloodshot last night. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be but it isn't something I have a desire to ever watch again.

The Last Time I Saw Paris because my wife digs old movies I guess. I think it was some sort of melodrama/romance thing. I wasn't paying much attention. But Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. She was 21 in this one and just distractingly gorgeous. That's all.. otherwise don't bother.

A lot of people will tell you that it is impossible to pick the most beautiful woman ever or that there is really no such thing. Those people are fucking WRONG.

My wife even commented on it first while we were watching. Her still pictures, which are stunning, don't do her justice. She didn't have a bad side or angle. She was a good actress, too. This movie was crap, though.
