Ed Zachary. You know me so well.
Anything with McQueen should be the last version.

And I'll take Denzel over Yul Brenner every day.
That wasn't the reason I gave. I spelled out why I think the movie was a 5.5 out of 10. It's an issue of person taste.I wouldn't disagree. Samurai is an alltime classic, and the remake was done in the spirit of the original. Homage more than ripoff.
That doesn't make this latest remake a 5 out of ten movie though.
You forgot the legendary Eli Wallach. Great...now, I've got to watch the old one again!Except no Steve McQueen, no James Coburn, no Charles Bronson. no Yul Brenner. No RRRRobert VVVaughn with the shakes.
I agree. Very good casting in the new one. I'd probably take Denzel over Yul in this role too. However, he's the only new cast member that I'd take over the old ones. This new movie has a pretty good cast. Is it to that level? No it isn't. But let's not pretend like they didn't cast anybody in the movie.

Wasn't he the villain though? Good actor though.
Wallach was fantastic in The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.
