Chris Pratt has been doing super safe movies after Lego and Guardians.

Magnificent 7 on its surface reminds me of Jurassic Park. You know exactly whats going to happen in the movie before you see it and the movie only exists to make money.

He is doing some sort of space Titanic around Christmas that does all of the normal space isolation stuff except with romance.

A waste of a lead character talent imo.

I wouldn't disagree. Samurai is an alltime classic, and the remake was done in the spirit of the original. Homage more than ripoff.

That doesn't make this latest remake a 5 out of ten movie though.
That wasn't the reason I gave. I spelled out why I think the movie was a 5.5 out of 10. It's an issue of person taste.

Except no Steve McQueen, no James Coburn, no Charles Bronson. no Yul Brenner. No RRRRobert VVVaughn with the shakes.
You forgot the legendary Eli Wallach. Great...now, I've got to watch the old one again!

This new movie has a pretty good cast. Is it to that level? No it isn't. But let's not pretend like they didn't cast anybody in the movie.

And I'll take Denzel over Yul Brenner every day.
I agree. Very good casting in the new one. I'd probably take Denzel over Yul in this role too. However, he's the only new cast member that I'd take over the old ones.

Miller's Crossing: 4/5. Very good movie, that almost has a touch of neo-noir to it. I particularly liked John Turturro's performance (as usual) and Jon Polito's. Gabriel Byrne is like a discount Liam Neeson

Finally got to see a couple of movies.

"The Revenant"
Maybe read too much hype about the movie from people. I found it a very slow movie. Lost my interest a few times. It just didn't keep my interest. Won't be watching it again. Gets a 6.5/10

"Deadpool"
For some reason I had forgotten about this movie completely. Was pleasantly surprised. Nothing great but it didn't try to be. It moved along well and I liked it. The kind of movie I could watch a few more times. Give it a 7/10

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber on Fleet Street: 3.5/5 stars. I'll be the first to say that I think Johnny Depp can be a little overrated, but he really performed in this movie. Going into this musical with him, I had traumatic flashbacks of Russell Crowe singing mercilessly on end in the film adaptation to Les Miserables, but I can honestly say that I never knew Depp had such a booming, yet ironically, soft, smoothing, and (if I were gay- which I'm not) seductive voice. He was awesome. This is the performance I would have liked to seen in From Hell. It was like Dexter, but in 1880's London.

The first half of the movie flirted with 5 star territory, but it kind of fell of in the end. I would have liked to seen more Alan Rickman (you can never have too much Alan Rickman), but oh well. For free on Netflix, I'd certainly recommend to get you into the Halloween mood (if these murderous clowns aren't doing the trick for you).

Last movie at the movies, took the kid to watch Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It was a little scary for her.

Wasn't he the villain though? Good actor though.

Wallach was fantastic in The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

"Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez", known as 'The Rat'

I can only imagine the shit job they'd do trying to remake GBU.

I actually got to see the Revenant not too long ago. Really well shot and amazing cinematography. Tom Hardy did a great job even though his voice was ridiculous. 8.5/10 IMO.

Also saw Brooklyn. The main actress is very good and hot but I just can't get into Romance movies unless it has some other elements that make it watchable ala Grosse Point Blank. I still think it's a solid 7/10.
