I'm not comparing Bolt fans to that of Raiders fans. I'm comparing the cities and the fact that they are more transient style cities that just don't have the commitment to the local team. Also the research that I have looked at took tens of thousands of people's thoughts on who they support. This isn't some guy that walked around and picked 50 people. Throw in there are lots of research out there beyond just the one that I looked at that backs up what I said.

Also Raider Nation is not as big as you would think. They were huge back in the day but with 10 years of terrible play the fan base has severely shrunk. They had some of the lowest percentages of fans in the seats over the last 10 years of any team in the league. They ranked 30th in actual percentage of seats sold during that period. Compare that to say the Broncos or Packers who have sold out every single home game for close to 40 years. We are talking teams that have 10-25 year waiting period for season tickets compared to a team that I could call today and get great season tickets right now. There is plenty of data once again to back this up that the Raiders are nowhere near a top-10 fanbase around the country. They look at things like ticket sales, merchandise sales, media exposure, tv ratings, and more. Raiders like I said are bottom 5 in most of those categories. So hard for me to take your word for it when very little backs it up. I know you will come back with "stop using stats to prove your point because stats don't tell the whole picture." I guess if that makes you feel better that is fine but right now the Raiders are not a very well supported team.
But don't you see cd, you are comparing them.. By simply saying Vegas is like SD.. It's not even close man..
Bolts fans don't really support their team.. Raider Fan is HARDCORE!! And WILL fill that NEW World Class Stadium!! When Vegas is done building what WILL be the BEST stadium in the league, it will be FULL of RAIDER FAN!! And you know why?? Cuz RAIDERNATION is HardCore!!

And as for the Fan base falling a bit?? Those are poorly chosen words by you cd.. I would just say they went on the down low, just look at what our team used to be since our SB.. But fear not, cuz RAIDER Fan is back in FULL effect..

And as for that cat that did the research?? I already told you, i am the research!! But what would i know right?? My eyes were just lying to me..

Actually in Las Vegas the biggest fan base is the Cowboys. There is a reason they are called America's Team as they do have fans everywhere and it does seem the cities that do not have an NFL team seem to support the Cowboys more so than any other team. The next biggest is that of the 49ers. From what I can tell from the research that has been done the Raiders come in at a distant 3rd in Vegas.

Next is going to be will the NFL allow a Casino owning person actually have a big time vested interest in an NFL team? Right now it sounds like there is major push back against that happening because of the fear of the betting side of things. Definitely a lot of obstacles to get over if this were to actually happen.
Once again, you dont know what youre talking about

There is a bar in Vegas, for every fucking team that has ever existed. I can tell you that there are a couple Cowboys bars, there are some Raider bars, and there are a shit load of Chicago bars. It doesnt matter though really. I have lived here for 35 of my 40 years. I can tell you for sure, that no matter what team the people here are fans of, they will be in big support of Raiders. It would be the first professional major sports franchise in Vegas, and there is no doubt that it work, and there would plenty of local support. Plus, I dont care what the most popular team in any town is, Vegas is so close to California, that they would lose zero support.

So I dont care what your actual data is, and link please, but it doesnt matter. Its not we are able to choose any team in the league. I dont see how that even matters in this discussion. Also, what the fuck does a Denver fan know about the Raiders fan base in Las Vegas?

cd, i have people that lived in Henderson so i was out there my share of times.. And Vegas is a RAIDER City dude..
Is there Cowboys fans, sure there is but from what i seen with my OWN eyes its all RAIDERS for the most part..
Vegas is right down the street from Cali, home of the RAIDER Fan base!!
Calling the Cowboys America's team is stupid btw!! And if we move there it's OUR City!! Vegas is a World City just like the RAIDERS are a World team.. Could you imagine Vegas marketing the RAIDERS?? While playing in a World class Stadium!! The Vegas elite know how to do it right.. They NEVER lose!!
CD, is right about there being more Cowboy fans in Vegas, but what he's discounting is the close distance as you noted from LA.

I think the Raiders will survive in Las Vegas and some fans born in Vegas will adopt the Raiders as their team.

Well let's see one of my best friends is from Vegas so visit quite often. Because of knowing my friend and visiting I have come to know many of his friends in Vegas so yeah feel like I have a decent feel for the city. Throw in I'm not basing mine off of my own eyes. I realize there are a decent number of Raiders fans in Vegas. What I am saying though is it is a very mixed city because it is such a transient city. People moving in and out from all over the world. Compare that to a place like Denver where many have been locals for generations so the Bronco support is deep. Now maybe if a single team goes there allegiance would change but I still think because Vegas is so cheap to fly to and stay at that many out of town fans would want to come for a weekend game. I do think the home crowd would struggle to be a huge advantage. Maybe I am wrong and if they move there and they have an incredible home field advantage I will be the first to admit that I was. I'm just thinking because it is more of a tourist town they could run into some problems.

Once again, you dont know what youre talking about

Here is just one map that shows NFL fandom based on actual data not just somebody saying I don't know what I am talking about...

http://deadspin.com/5980933/howd-those-fans-get-there-a-deeper-dive-into-the-facebook-nfl-fandom-map

There are plenty of other tests that have been done that support this data to be true. Right now in Vegas it goes Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers, and then Raiders for actual fan support. Now I would guess yes getting an actual team in Vegas that changes and yes I'm sure with California being so close they wouldn't have trouble keeping actual Oakland fans and keeping them trying to come to games. I still think though you are going to draw fans from all over the country to fly out to Vegas for a weekend get away. I have a group of friends that we do this at least a couple of times a year. It is a very cheap trip (unless you gamble all your money away). If the Raiders move there it wouldn't surprise me to see us plan our trip around that as my friends are divided between Chiefs and Broncos fans where I live so it would be easy to go out to both of those games every year.

Explain to me why bringing in fans of teams money is a bad thing? Also no other team will be a majority fans base, against the Raiders in Las Vegas, unless the Raiders are 0-16. I don't care how many of your friend's, friends, that you have met, I am a native.

Didn't say fans of other teams buying the tickets was a bad thing. I said the Raiders might not have the same home field advantage that you would want because of so many outside fans coming to Vegas and wanting to catch a game. And I will say yes I do agree that the Raiders fans will still outnumber other fans at the games. That is not what we are talking about here. What I am saying is right now you can look at a Bronco game and see that about 95% of those in attendance are actually Bronco fans. The noise that can be generated to actually create a great home field advantage is huge when you can have those kind of numbers. Compare that to say only about 70% of the stadium actually being Raiders fans because heck it doesn't even have to be fans of the opposing team just people who want to go to a game because they are in Vegas taking up a seat.

I will say I think they will have better luck selling out games in Vegas than what they have had in Oakland. They had to start until the new rules came out about blacking out games covering seats with tarps to lower the seat count making it easier to sell enough tickets. So yes I think a move to Vegas would be a very good thing for the Raiders. I'm more speaking to how great of a home field advantage that will be for the Raiders.

When you say fans from other teams will buy the cheap tickets etc, don't you think RAIDER Fan will do the same thing?? Vegas is right in the heart of RAIDERNATION..
Face it dude you are wrong man.. If the RAIDERS move to Vegas, it WILL belong to them!! Period!!

I Live in Vegas there are Cowboy fans every where. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of Raider fans but they don't match numbers on a daily basis, on many weekends as they come up from LA, the Raider numbers increase.

What I'm saying is it is the cheapest place in the entire country to fly and stay at. Just this past fall I flew out round trip for right at $100. Then my hotel was something like $25 as the group I was with had gotten a nice coupon for cheap hotels that were actually very nice. Then food as I have a friend that is local and knows all the deals and when they are was dirt cheap. So honestly even though I can drive to Denver in a few hours from where I am it would still probably be cheaper for me to go to a game in Vegas than one in Denver. Throw in depending what you like to do Vegas offers a lot of options for tourists that don't cost a ton. Denver has a lot too but when we are talking entertainment wise Vegas is King.

And yes if the Raiders moved to Vegas they would be the dominant fan base. I have not said otherwise. Right now they are not the dominant fanbase in Vegas and depending who you listen to stats wise they are around 3rd or 4th in actual fanbase size in Vegas. That would change with them moving to town as many locals would want to support the local team. It happens. What I am saying though is that because of the easy access to Vegas and that it is majority wise a tourist town that you would have a lot of non-Raiders fans at these games. Maybe 70% of the seats are Raiders fans which is great but it isn't a great home field advantage compared to places like Seattle where maybe 95% of the fans at the games are Seahawks fans. Throw in corporations in Vegas would be buying up a bunch of the Season tickets as they would want to entertain their clients so again you run into a ton of people being given tickets that more than likely are not Raiders fans.

Of course cd.. Vegas knows how to put it out there to bring those people in..
But cd you are making my case for me.. You see that cheap deal you got to go to Vegas, well RAIDER Fan will get those same deals from all over the US and flock to see their favorite team!! The HOUSE will be FULL of RAIDER Fan cd.. Now will there be fans from other teams?? Of course there will, just like any other stadium..
But Vegas is a RAIDER City make no mistake.. And yes there is a blend of other teams as well..

Well it seems we are just at an impasse Idaho. I hope they get to Vegas and we will just have to see what happens.
