Minshew played well last season in Indy because he had a pretty good running game.....he needs that. He cannot just go out there and try and play like he is TB12 or some other elite passer. He is basically a nice game manager if you have a strong running game. If we had JJ I think we might be able to have had like a 8-9 or 9-8 season.....maybe.

cdumler, I understood the decision to let JJ walk (he wanted to get paid and we had Zeus and got Mattiison as a bargain FA)....but damn....if we had him this season might have been a little different.....maybe.....Mattison has been alright but after showing flashes of potential? Zamir "Zeus" White has flamed out. He might be able to recover next season and play well but I kind of doubt it. JJ is on my FF team and has been absolutely killing it.

Kind of like if Dallas had signed Henry (although we don't have a QB like Dak).
JJ is on my fantasy team too. Finally felt comfortable taking him now that he isn't on the Raiders. That guy was truly the Bronco killer. He could be average the rest of the season, but when the Broncos showed up in town the guy became a HOF level talent. Drove me nuts. I definitely get why they moved on, but this is part of the Raiders problem is talent seems to keep walking out the door and doing great for other teams. I don't know if it is a cash flow problem or what, but you have to bite the bullet and keep talent when you can.

As much as I hate to say this (and please don't say this in general pop=NFL forum) because it's a rivalry sacrilege (but fuck it, my wife is a Chiefs fan) but I am pulling for you guys....because I thought Payton was a pretty good hire....lot of people (some in here but I shall not name names, LOL) thought he was washed and overrated.

Even though I still think RW got a raw deal with Payton coming in.

I think no matter who the coach was RW was going to get a raw deal. If the team failed the blame was going to be put on him. If the team succeeded all the praise was going to go to the coach no matter who they were.

RW I think is one of the toughest guys in the league to coach. No matter the offensive system you run it will always degrade back into the RW system where he runs around and tries to make magic happen. If he has a strong defense like he does in Pittsburgh it isn't as big of a deal to run it and see how things go, but when you need him to be your star he just cannot be that. He was paid like he was a star, but at this point in his career the guy is middle of the pack starting QB at best.

Honestly though I think things worked out well for both sides. Broncos got to move on to a QB that coach believes in and Wilson landed in a pretty good spot where he doesn't have to be the hero every week.

True, but I think he is maybe top 12-13 now. Little better than middle of the pack....

But, the Steelers got an upgrade from what they had last season.....they prolly gonna bring him back on like a 2 year deal....

I will say that Wilson is in the perfect system right now for what he likes to do. Pickens' ability to win the deep ball is maybe best in the league and what does Wilson like to do but chuck it up and let his guy go make a play. They also have a pretty strong run game helping him out. I want to see how things go the rest of the year for him, but there is still some good left in his game. I would still put him middle of the pack though as I do not think some of what they are doing on offense is sustainable long-term.

I don't know about 12 or 13 so much as the totality of their offense combined with how well that defense is playing. Wilson definitely is not being required to carry that team the way he was paid to do here in Denver.

They are also committed to their run game. Despite their 3.9 YPC ranking somewhere in the 20s, they are #2 in the league in rushing attempts. I think that has helped Wilson tremendously, and this system has him in a better position to succeed at his game.

Henry and Baltimore was the biggest slam dunk in FA, IMO. That was a match made in heaven.

I remember late last year I was talking football with my brother and I said. "Do you know who would be the perfect addition to the Ravens?"

Without hesitation he said "Derrick Henry?"

It was like everyone and their dog just knew it was the perfect match.

Should be be back next week.
It felt like he was sorely missed. I think Minshew had about 141 yards going into the 4th quarter, which surprised me. It felt like he had thrown for about a mile's worth of yards in that game. Also, sad to see him injured late. Never want that for a player.

Anyway, I really hope Allen is back in time to make the MNF game with the Browns a little less uncomfortable.

It's really what the Raiders always do against us. Dink and dunk their way down the field. Difference this year was they didn't have Josh Jacobs or Adams of course but Jacobs has really been a true Bronco killer.

I will just say this.....if the Steelers do an about face and let RW walk....let him come to Vegas and we can see you guys next season.....and see how much he has left in the tank. He would be an upgrade over Jimmy G, Minshew, AOC, Ridder.....we would just need a RB and tinker with the OL and some on the defense with all our salary cap space and draft picks....maybe add a #1 receiver also.

I think RW is still a top 12-13 QB in the League.

I think the Steelers end up re-signing Wilson. They are going to be picking late in round 1 at this point and not better options out there for them.

Instantly put pressure on the team to win. Anything less then SB should be considered a disappointment.

Two first rounders could land them Zach Wilson. Reload on Wilsons.

Good luck accomplishing that all in one offseason. Great OL talent is rarely hitting FA. Sometimes you can find a good interior guy but Tackle is looking pretty slim. It is why so many of us are pounding the table to re-sign Bolles this offseason because you are probably not finding an even 80% as good replacement.

Honestly this FA class as of right now is not looking great. There will be some cuts so maybe that helps it out, but there will be a lot of C level talent making A type money this offseason.

At least the nice thing for you is it should be a very active offseason. Possibly new head coach, lots of cap money to spend, and a top-5 pick heading your way. Not the best news for sure, but at least trying to get a positive from the situation. Us Bronco fans have been there the last 8 years of trying to find the positive in a horrible situation.
