In Beltre we trust.
Gif of the season.
One thing I think we can all agree on, and we have last year as well as this year for evidence....
Every single one of these 162 games matters!
Also, when it comes to MLB managers, IMO, it is much easier to notice the mistakes they make vs the decisions that are the correct ones. After all, in baseball, there is a right and a wrong move for just about every call a manager makes. Every manager is going to make mistakes over the course of a 162 game season, no doubt about that. I would argue though, if you could actually count them all up, that Ron Washington makes A LOT more mistakes than almost every other manager in baseball. I would also suggest that all those additional managerial errors, have cost us more than 1 (probably more like 5-7) games in the win column, more than the next best manager to Ron Washington(in terms of number of managerial errors).
We can try and justify all this by talking about how loyal Ron Washington is to his players, or how he gets more out of players, (fill in the blank)....but at the end of the day, you cannot ignore the errors, you have to take them into consideration for the whole picture. And at least for this year, I don't see how we can say he has gotten anything more out of his players than any other manager has. Which brings me to my next point; there is no way to quantify how much more or less a manager "gets" out of his players. When evaluating a manager you cannot take that into account, AT ALL!!
162 games......... if we don't make the postseason, there is a lot of blame to go around. Players, Managers, Front office. Everyone shares a piece of it for sure. A manager's errors are much easier noticed though, and again it is clear, IMO, that an average manager replacing Ron Washington means:
2012: Texas Rangers Division Champion
2013: At least would have already locked up a wild card berth.
Soto has caught him for a while. Plus it's Sunday. That's usually a Soto day anyway.With Darvish starting tomorrow, I certainly hope Soto is catching. Gentry will be in the line up I imagine at least I hope so.
As well as catching we need his bat in the line up. Ole" Scocia will be coming with smoking guns . Nothing would make him happier than to beat us the last day.Soto has caught him for a while. Plus it's Sunday. That's usually a Soto day anyway.
He really doesn't come off to me as someone that knows his ass from his elbow some nights. I rather enjoy watching his stink face when the Angels do something stupid.As well as catching we need his bat in the line up. Ole" Scocia will be coming with smoking guns . He can really get some funny expressions on that face. Who knows but I look for this to be his last year. And he can't say Josh quit on him b/c he never started and that has been what one might have expectedHe really doesn't come off to me as someone that knows his ass from his elbow some nights. Reminds me of Cool Hand Luke .Yu Darvish when asked about if/how much pressure he felt for tomorrow's start;
"I’d feel a lot of pressure if I got cheating on my girlfriend,” Darvish said. “Other than that, …”
No...if both us and TB win (and CLE wins too) then we play a tiebreaker game in Texas for the final WC spot.Had to watch today's game via Gameday on my BBerry while at two of our granddaughters' karate tournament.
Was probably said during the game that with TB loss to TOR that even if both TEX and TB win game 162s that TEX gets the WC due to 4-3 season record vs TB. The Ogando win on Sep 17th made the difference.
TEX needs to win tomorrow ... but the outcome is in their hands. They win and doesn't matter what TB does.
That is three versions I've heard on this today. 1st version said if Tex and TB win tomorrow they play ay RBPIA Mon. for the wc. ( Clev not mentioned ) I don't know what is correctNo...if both us and TB win (and CLE wins too) then we play a tiebreaker game in Texas for the final WC spot.
That is correct and exactly what I said if CLE wins as well. If the Tribe loses but us and TB win then it'll be a 3-way tie and I'm assuming we all know how that works by now.That is three versions I've heard on this today. 1st version said if Tex and TB win tomorrow they play ay RBPIA Mon. for the wc. We all should know by now that every game counts.That is correct and exactly what I said if CLE wins as well. If the Tribe loses but us and TB win then it'll be a 3-way tie and I'm assuming we all know how that works by now.
