A single thread to discuss the happenings in the dev camps going on for a bunch of teams this week.

For the Jackets, I haven't been personally but a friend of mine is there and said that Alexander Wennberg is tearing it up. Compared him to Ryan Johansen from last year. Good news for the Jackets.

And sorry Dash, but Frederic St Denis is a little beyond "dev" camp guy. He's on his first FA contract now! :thumb:

Samuel Morin is participating in the camp later this week for the Flyers - he was about 6'6 200 pounds at the draft last year, now he's gained about 20 pounds in one year(muscle mass), so he's about 220 pounds - I'm giddy about his potential

The Flames youngins are having a scrimmage this morning and I'm hearing Sam Bennett scored the first goal of the game (playing on a line with Johnny Hockey).

Sens camp has been going on for a few days.

Guys like Lazar, Ceci and Stone have apparently stood out. Pretty much to be expected.

The surprise guys (on the good side) are apparently Alex Guptill and Tobias Lindberg.

Former 1st rounder Matt Puempel has apparently been underwhelming. He's scored a lot at every level but I'm still dubious as to whether he'll score at the NHL level.

As far as Sam Bennett is concerned, if he makes the big club out of camp this season, so be it, but I wouldn't be opposed to sending him back to junior for one more season. Monahan had 185 OHL games under his belt prior to joining the Flames while Bennett only has 117 OHL games to date, that's almost a full season of games difference.

I agree dash. Monahan was much more NHL ready last year than Bennett is now. From style of play to body-type, he was just better suited to making the jump. I still think that even he could have benefited from more time in junior and the WJHC.

I think it would be wise to send Bennett back to junior. Might was well delay the start of his ELC too. Save more RFA years for when the Flames will be hopefully competing.

One of the reasons I love the Nylander pick - he can go straight to the Ricoh and skate with men one tier below NHL, something Rielly couldn't do even after spending one extra year in junior.

I am largely intrigued by what Connor Brown has to offer. Inclined to believe there's no chance he comes anywhere near his OHL production in the show but...

Getting him on a line with Nylander in the AHL would be pretty cool. Hell I might even go to a game or two.

Apparently the Devils get a late start, July 13th is when they open camp.

Pens haven't even announced their camp yet, from what I can tell.

Canucks were on a scavenger hunt in Whistler at last report.
players: -oooo there's a cougar! ooooh there's another cougar.
coach - stay out of the bars, boys.

I'm most excited to see how our new 6'& Russian defenseman looks.

Blueshirts United - 2014 Prospect Camp: Day 2 Scrimmage & Recap

Here's a video from the Rangers camp...at about 40 seconds into the video there's a goal by a kid who I used to tutor back when he was playing juniors here in Lincoln. He wasn't drafted, but he's played in a few different camps so far this summer. I expect partial credit for keeping him academically eligible to play at Minnesota :cool2:

An only slightly related question: what's with the strange crease markings?
