I'm not a homer like you and respect accomplishments of a different era. Do you think Tiger woods is better than Jack Nicklaus because Nicklaus played in a different era?
i respect accomplishments of other eras. until this past SB, montana was the alpha male of QB's. thats was the 80's. you know, a different era.

the niners also slathered their linemans jersey in silicone, and jerry rice used stickum. i can respect that too.

Winning the title is always good. But doing it in a 13-team league isn't quite the same as doing it in a 32-team league.

I don't know. The Pack had to have the best record in an 7 team conference to even make the post season. The AFC east has sucked balls since Brady took over at QB. I do think Brady is the GOAT, ftr... just sayin'

Just to put the right shoes on the right feet.......................

Professional football in the days before the NFL/AFL merger was a part time job. Professional football players had jobs when the football season was over. many of them worked insurance or similar jobs.

Before free agency, there was no movement of players unless they were traded. Trades were far and few between teams because no one wanted to give up a player that they thought was good enough to play football for them. In the 1950s and early 60's it was not unusual for the average player to be making less than $10,000 a season.

Fast forward to 2017 and professional football is a year round job and it pays pretty well. Problem is that no matter how well you play and how hard you work, the average player lasts about 6 years. By age 55, most players have had at least 8 surgeries on joints or bones. More than 50% suffer from some form of arthritis or other bone degeneration. Still the money is generally enough to not require a player to work after his playing days have finished.

Comparing Bart Starr to Aarron Rodgers or Babe Parrelli to Tom Brady is ludicrous.

How bout the Browns The franchise was founded in 1945 by businessman Arthur B. McBride and coach Paul Brown as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). The Browns dominated the AAFC, compiling a 47–4–3 record in the league's four active seasons and winning its championship in each of them

I don't care if there were 44 teams. It doesn't make any difference bozo.

I have to agree with you here. Only 2 out of 14 teams made the post season back then, now you only have to be one of the best 12 out of 32.

Funny thing is Starr did shit until Lombardi took over as Waz had mentioned and Belichick did shit until Brady took over as QB

I sure do deal with reality. If you believe Brady is GOAT that's your opinion but don't criticize me for my opinion.

no free agency
no salary cap
linebackers were 190 lbs in pads
the forward pass was still being phased into the game for shits sake

Look at your last post and then either show me where I ever mentioned Babe Parrilli as GOAT or apologize.

The forward pass was not still being phased into the game in the 60s.
LBs were not 190 lbs in pads. But what difference does it make how big the big guys were on both sides of the ball anyway ? The offense & defense big guys cancelled each other out.

They didn't get paid shit back then, re; free agency and salary cap. But I don't see how any of your points are relevant.

Uh...competition? Thus my 14 team reference. Players didnt move. No competitive balance. No salary cap.
Its borderline common sense. Free agency changed everything as did the salary cap.
This is all football 101
