I'm going to throw this out there.
This is just me, the redskins have been so bad, and also pretenders. So we came in with no real expectations, especially because we added good players but no elite pieces(likely not available). However, on the flip side, we also felt like if we were more aggressive with certain positions, then this season could possibly be more than just a one and done.
There is the conflict, just do the best you can with what you have, or upgrade and see how far you can go.
We nearly beat the superbowl bound ravens, without Robinson. Maybe with Higgins and a additional pass rusher we win that game

How much of the future do we mortgage for a quick fix , instant gratification playoff win? If you can bring in a maxx Crosby or a miles Garret then maybe you give up some draft capital. But why give it up for guys you can simply sign next year

A 25-year-old star is not a quick fix and if you get him you're not mortgaging your future, he'll be part of it. I'm kind of with you on Reddick because I'm fairly sure that this front office and coaching staff want more youthful people on their roster.

If you can get players that are better than what we have for a reasonable price in order to win. You do it because there are no guarantees of what might happen next year
Damn.......this might be the best ever response I've seen from you on this board.

Until Higgins puts his name on an extension he is a rental be it 1/2 a yr or 1 1/2 year rental at a position. That isn’t a primary need . Our offense is performing as a top 5 unit . Why give up assets and money for a guy I can get for just money next year ( or his equal )

Reddick is holding out now for the jets and he , at best will be playing week ten . If things go south with Higgins the same scenario can happen with him .

I like to shoot with both barrels not one .

Because the money you pay Tee Higgins this offseason will be far greater than you would for an extension upon signing.

As most of you know, there is an ongoing debate over what to do or not do about improving this current team Question:

Now that the Commanders have their quarterback, are they now in their window of opportunity to win long-term? (Not Superbowls, not division or playoffs)
They have a rookie QB on a rookie contract who looks like the sky is the limit talent-wise. 1st step was acquiring him...Done.. 2nd step was him showing you/me/us that he's a balla.......Done. 3rd step is putting enough talent around him.

Yeah, I'd opine they are now in the window of which you speak n realistically step 3 began with the draft n will be an ongoing process I'd like to think.

No one is saying you can't shoot both barrels. If you know how to shoot though all you need is one shot to hit your target. Then you'll have another shot for another target.

Correct!
You know it when you see it and if that didn't happen pre-draft during OTAs, training camp and the preseason, then I'm side-eying my coaching staff and the guy who drafted him.
All of this, waiting to see what we have is nothing more than the same stuff that Bruce Allen was peddling.
Now we're seeing it in trade conversations. So, instead of jumping on opportunities to improve the team with young proven highly skilled talent, which btw increases their opportunities to do good things in the playoffs, it's screw maximizing the potential now to build upon, next year, is gonna be a blast as we go into the draft with two hands full of assets and debate the value in trading down for more draft picks and who not to sign in free agency.

Aren’t we ranked 5th in offense ? Aren’t we 22nd on defense?

If we do anything it should go on the defensive side ?

How many years of short cuts and signing shiny new toys do I need to see before we acknowledge they don’t work ?

How many times do I have to give multiple picks for one guy only to find out the guy isn’t as advertised?

And the bengals aren’t doing anything with Tee until they are eliminated from the playoffs .

In 29 yrs we have never , ever implemented a plan that will give us long term success because as usual everyone thinks there are shortcut to success

Year one you assess and evaluate, yr 2 you fill your holes , year 3 you are ready if you do your jobs .

The issue is this fan base will sell their football souls for a glimpse of glory instead of building for extended glory and when a good thing is staring them in the face , they choose for the grass is greener approach

Simple know when to hold them and know when to strike . And strike when you get the greatest benefit..

Why not do both? Needs are after all, needs, addressing them will have to take place at some point, correct?

Perhaps not using "shiny new toys" will help to see a need when it doesn't favor your argument. Sign me___ A friend looking out!:suds:

I agree with the concerns about the defense, but in this league when is good enough ever good enough?

In building a sustainable roster, wouldn’t it be wise to have an option after Terry McLauren’s contracts expires In 2026? Yes, drafting his replacement would be an option, but that would come with quite a bit of risk, especially when I do not see many years with picks ahead of 20 in the draft. Tee Higgins is 25, and he has proven to be very good in this league. Tee will be 27, when TM’s contract expires and would allow a lot of flexibility in what we do at WR for the next five years. If you can get him for a third, which would be a late third in the draft, and you can resign him, you make the trade. Tee makes this team better now and in the future.

Nope, Alpha males in a competitive arena, no matter what that happens to be, strive for perfection, and even after being the best ever, we find reason to best that. Look at the whole G.O.A.T debate!

5th overall means nothing other than there are 4 better and you're not as good as you want to be.
