I think those that wished for a boycott can forget it.

The Sabres had extra game tickets for season ticket and mini pack holders two days ago and broke the all time single day ticket sales record (with the exception of the Winter Classic) over 31,500 sold.

Today tickets go on sale to the GP for all of the games at 10:30am today and they expect the season to sell out.

Most of us felt that the fans would come back but it will be interesting to see how concession stand sales go. I was at the Sabres store yesterday with my son as it opened and there were 12-15 people deep at the checkout.

ya.. the flyers think they might have a full house for their open practice at the wells fargo center on thursday.. that's 19k+ for a practice.. they had to call the fire marshall to handle the capacity at practice on sunday (practice wasn't at WFC)

no chance of lower tickets prices in legit hockey markets when the sheep keep grazing

Wow Matt, that surprises me! 250?

yeah even for a school day that is really low. but that was the report and the pictures that were shown (smuggled out by media through underground channels that got through the Canucks Nazi PR department) showed a very sparse crowd

i see canucks sent out email offers to buy additional ticket packages (power play pak???) to season ticket holders ... I dont recall that being done in previous years for our corporate season tickets

... why dont the canucks just hit up the "massive wait list"

yeah I got that this morning and deleted it promptly. remember the canucks hold a shit load of tickets for last minute sales to carry over that "false demand" that exists. I assume they are doing this to appease us to get upgraded seats for games and spend more money

Hockey has the same allure/passion to its fanbase like soccer (minus the hooliganism). I think the key word is passion (if you're angry about something, it still means you're passionate about it). The danger is apathy and we still haven't reached that point (at least I haven't seen it).

its either ... they are having trouble selling them or they are apologizing to their die hard fans (season ticket holders) by letting them buy more tickets lol

I undertsand that a lot of teams' season ticket holders are taking the "soft" boycott approach. They aren't boycotting entirely but they are 100% committed to going to fewer games this season than they normally would, just a bit over half in fact. That's just for the regular season though. The playoffs won't apply.

Kings had over 6,000 last night for an open practice. Not bad considering the time and place.
