i wonder if this showing is actually an indication of how popular hockey has gotten.. these numbers for practices are outrageous.. maybe the game has grown a lot more than i give it credit for
And here I was anticipating everyone to follow through with their boycott "threats"
Hockey has the same allure/passion to its fanbase like soccer (minus the hooliganism). I think the key word is passion (if you're angry about something, it still means you're passionate about it). The danger is apathy and we still haven't reached that point (at least I haven't seen it).
however, yesterday the team had a twitter contest where you had to say why you are a big fan (chance for free tickets)... thought about it for a second, but the passion is gone right now. I just couldn't be bothered.
intitially i thought it might have a chance but then I came to the realization that people would continue bending over

There probably are a lot of fans that are sticking to their boycott. But for everyone of them, there is another (give or take) that was going to spend the same amount of time and money on the NHL given the opportunity whether it was a full season of a half season. But now it's being dispersed over 24(?) home games instead of 41. Not to mention how long it's been since the last game. I think if the boycotters really wanted to make an impact they'd have to commit to keeping it up for an entire 82 game season in 2013-2014.
We are hockey fans. As much as we complained during the lockout (I am one of them) are as excited to see games as I always am. I just wished I lived closer to Buffalo so I could go to more games.
