The Eagles are stone cold locks to win the NFC again, right?

Yep, looking more and more like the road to the SB for the NFC will likely have to travel through Philly. But we are only halfway and a lot of shit can still happen.

What about the Lions!

I know it's not real, but it is only half a joke this time!

The Eagles are in a great position going into their bye week with an 8-1 record, including 6-0 against the NFC and 3-0 against the NFC East.

But...this is where the schedule gets really hard for Philly, so don't crown them yet.

Next 5 games: @Chiefs, Bills, Niners, @Cowboys, @Seahawks

It then ends on an easier note with Giants, Cardinals Giants

But that's a pretty tough five-game stretch. If they go 3-2 or better and win the conference games though I think the division goes through Philly.

I think the Lions have the inside track for the 1 seed with that schedule from here on out.

Eagles just need to finish 4-4 down the stretch to take the division now. Need better than that to hold off Detroit and San Fran for the number 1 seed. Dallas has a stretch of Seahawks Eagles Bills Dolphins Lions they have at least 2 more losses in that stretch.

On a negative note the Goedert injury stinks. If he has a broken forearm he’ll likely go on IR until next month and miss about four games. Hopefully he can recover and be at full strength in time for the postseason. But his absence will affect the run as well as pass game. They have some OK backups but no one with the dual threat abilities of Goedert.

The least depth on the roster is at TE. Not good during this killer 8 game stretch.

I was wondering how bad his injury was. Only 4 games for a broken forearm? Seems a little optimistic

With the bye week, it's more like 5 weeks of rest.
And it depends on the severity of the fracture.

Yeah, I guess he is having an MRI today, so I suspect we will get a better idea of the extent of the injury. It seems a little optimistic to me, but these are pro athletes, maybe he can play with a cast on his forearm in a month.

Yeah, but for a broken forearm?
Well, best to wait for the MRI to see what's really going on.
But, if it doesn't require surgery, you're looking at 4-6 weeks before resuming physical activity.

Jack Stoll is a pretty good run blocker but totally lacks the pass catching skills of Goedert and is best kept as the in-line #2 TE. That means we will likely see Grant Calcaterra, the former Oklahoma and SMU TE, called up to TE1. He can catch it and has pretty good chemistry with Hurts, his onetime college teammate, but he also has a history of concussions that led him to retire from OU before returning to SMU.
