since the CDCFC/ SDFC / Puppets feel trading for smith was this huge coup i brought up another trade candidate in our ever ending quest to a thrift store rather then moving forward
his name is Andy dalton First plus he is 31 yrs old going into next season not 34
but here are his numbers in his 7 year career
63-44-2 record and 0-4 in the playoffs
his passing stats are 62% 25534 yds 7.2 avg 167 tds and 93 INTS with an 88.7 rating
here are CDC's / steve debergs
his record is 88-62-1 , his playoff record is 2 -5 , he is a 12 yr pro , (keep and eye on that )
his passing stats are 62.4 % 31888 yds 183 TDS 96 INTS 87.4 rating
now let compare , ratings are about equal so that is a wash
wins CDC has 25 more wins in 5 more service years anyone doubt dalton can get 25 more wins out of 80 future games ?
TDS anyone doubt dalton cant throw for 16 tds in 80 games , that would tie CDC's mark
INTs smith has only 3 more over 12 years check in the CDC column
YDS 31888 to 25534 a mere 6000
yd difference over 5 yrs , anyone doubt dalton cant hit that in 80 career games ?
add to it gruden knows dalton and dalton knows the offense
now was he available ? eh if AJ is what people think he is then yes
now for the contract , he earns 13.7 mil in 2018 and CDC 17 mil so we gain in cap space but get this with CDC we are committed to him for 3 years because of the cap hit
with dalton there is no cap hit after 2018
his cost the next 2 years after 2018 is 16 mil in (19) and 17.5 mil in( 20 )
this guy can do everything CDC can and can do it slightly better for less cost with an out if he fails . with steve deberg we have an anchor on us in terms of advanced age and dead cap space if we wanted to move on
now if 396 had waited perhaps we could have made a better deal
