Whether the season is cancelled or not, this season is already going to be unlike any other. While there have been strike shortened seasons and baseball even had one with no World Series, there hasn't been a season that I recall (maybe WWII) where a season was shortened or ended because of essentially a countrywide shut down.

However, there were enough games played to know which were the bad teams and which were the good teams.

The stats, records, etc. don't simply get wiped away because the season was cancelled. Everything will still count, there just wouldn't be a champion.

The only reason to change the draft would be if there weren't enough games played to get a fair reading on how teams rank. Every team has played approximately 65 games which is plenty to make that determination.
Again, trivially obvious to everyone but Angry Lady

Guess I should use the exact quote referring to the 2019-20 season, so here it is.....

"A cancelled season means every team gets equal odds of landing the #1 draft pick."

and, yes, that is kooky talk

Did I say that?

No.

In fact I clearly did state the a Cavs win was possible.

But, you called me out for saying that the 65 win Rockets, (who went toe to toe with the Warriors for 7 games) were clearly better than the 50 win Cavs (who got swept by the Warriors).

So keep trying to twist what I said all you want. But it is not in any way extreme to say the ‘18 Rockets were “clearly better” than the ‘18 Cavs.

But do you.

I think you guys agree more than you disagree on the issue we're talking about.
Clearly, this pandemic affects everyone differently. "Everyone has same chance for #1 pick?" Kooky talk.

Plus, our teams have earned these upcoming high picks.

Heck yeah they have!!

All seriousness, obviously not what we want under the circumstances, but I think with Curry coming back and Cavs just playing better each of our teams might have moved up and hurt their draft status had the season gone on as normal.

I'd take Darko again if they win the ring that came the same year.

Hey, did you see Melo's claim that he would've won 3 rings if the Pistons had drafted him? I think that's a lot to assume. Yeah, he's obviously had a better career by a wide margin, but that Pistons team was just perfect. Adding a high volume, but not high efficiency scorer, who is a poor defender doesn't make those Pistons better, IMO.

Hard to say

They were a game away from beating the Spurs and the first Cavs finals visit was all LeBron.

Maybe two but also possible he kills the chemistry and they win zero

I tend to agree.

They might have been a little better, might have been worse. Hard to imagine Melo making them a lot better, because reality is he was at his best when he was the center of the offense and that wasn’t how Detroit was built.

This is just Melo trying to justify his career. He will always be compared to LeBron and Wade because of his draft class, and he will always fall woefully short in those comps.

I doubt they win more with Melo. Brown didn't play rookies (in part what helped ruin Darko) and he would have been behind Tayshaun at small who for the Pistons perfectly. If he played power forward, happened to get minutes, and did well they may never make the move to get Rasheed from the Hawks which was the piece that propelled them to a ring.

I believe that the Piston s would have been worse with Melo: he would have either whined a ton about no rookie paying time and killed chemistry or gotten playing time and ruined chemistry. That team was just a fortunate balance of misfit parts that meshed the right way and Melo would not have fit.

They meshed because they had the best coach in basketball history

Apparently. You said the greatest coach in basketball history brought them together. :noidea:
Wooden is like the Phil Jackson of college coaches. Definitely an all time great, but basically rode legendary players (Alcindor, Walton, etc) to multiple titles in one level of basketball.

Brown won on both levels without legendary talent. He's the GOAT

Without legendary talent? I totally disagee. At Kansas Brown had Danny Manning (2,951 pts. & 1,187 reb's). He put the Jayhawks on his shoulder & carried them to the '88 national title. He's one of the best CBB players I ever watched.

OK, Manning was pretty good.

Brown is still GOAT

Wooden had to essentially build a program and he had to recruit those players to come play at UCLA, who was far from a national power at the time.

So, not only was Wooden a better coach, he was also a better recruiter.

Also Larry Brown coached at both UCLA and Kansas...programs that aren't exactly known for being devoid of talent.
