People love narratives and legacy talk, so they will cling to those tightly. Until Harden wins a title, it will be an absolute truth to many people that he simply cannot win one.

I believe that win-loss outcomes has as much to do with luck as anything else. These guys are the best of the best, and there is really little that separates them. There is a good deal of randomness to it, IMO, and there is a very little chance that the same result would just keep repeating itself, but maybe you and I are the crazy ones here. LOL.
Might be true...though I think others are in agreement that Houston team "could" have won even though they did not.

Did I say that?

No.

In fact I clearly did state the a Cavs win was possible.

But, you called me out for saying that the 65 win Rockets, (who went toe to toe with the Warriors for 7 games) were clearly better than the 50 win Cavs (who got swept by the Warriors).

So keep trying to twist what I said all you want. But it is not in any way extreme to say the ‘18 Rockets were “clearly better” than the ‘18 Cavs.

But do you.
I will do me.....my apologies as I read it wrong.

I hear ya. while I can differentiate how the Finals went because my team played, I can't recall which year was which when it comes to the WCF and how GS got to Finals.

lol

Today they were showing the 2016 game 7 between the Cavs and Warriors and I kept thinking the Warriors won until I remembered it was game 7 and that was the only series that went 7 in those 4. lol

Mark Cuban has been pretty vocal about saying they need to get up and running so people have something positive and fun to focus on during the pandemic. We didn't shut down baseball even during WWII. I get why of course (that wasn't something to ban crowds). But the positive psychological impact could be huge. Play in empty gyms and arenas, you wouldn't watch that?

BOOM.

No...but they have a draft lottery and it is based on where each team finishes the reg. season.

If you want to think we could have a lottery where each team has same chance at top pick have at it.

If the season gets cancelled, the results get cancelled.

Youre making it sound like this season is just like every other one.

OK dude, I've held my silence long enough in my own thread, but stop being a moron.

Jeff Bagwell won MVP in 1994 in spite of breaking his hand mere days before the strike.

But by your faulty logic (more like greed for the Lakers to have a draft pick they haven't earned), I guess Bagwell's 1994 performance shouldn't count in the record books simply because the season wasn't ever finished.

Once again another quality response todd. I’m glad you have all the answers for events that have never happened before.

You must have a lot of frustration now that the schools have closed. How are you going to perv over high school girls now?

First off, it doesn’t look like the season gets cancelled.

But, if it does, they played 60 some games. That happened. They will still have all their regular season awards. They will still award lottery in reverse order of standings based on what they played (but maybe with a couple tweaks).

Just because we may not be able to finish the season doesn’t mean we just wipe away everything that happened over its first 5 months.

Extremely safe bet to say the Lakers won’t be involved in the lottery no matter what.

Wow, ^here's a post that couldn't have been predicted. If you actually bothered to read the actual post you quoted me - You'd see that it has, in fact, happened before - In 1994. Fuck I was all of six years old at the time and didn't even follow sports at that point, yet I still knew that one.

Your Lakers sold practically all their draft capital to New Orleans for one guy. That's just how the world works. Deal with it.

Any way you look at it, this season has a giant asterisk next to it. As a Nuggets fan and given the flaws the team has shown this season, I don't think I'd be able to fully celebrate a title in a cheapened playoff format. Likewise if you're a fan in Wisconsin and haven't won since 1971, could you really get excited about your team ending their drought in this fashion?

I stand by my earlier comment that it is counterproductive to hinder future seasons just to complete a season that's already been lost, and that the only reason the league is still considering it is because of LeBron James.

Just cancel the season and get it over with.

It's significantly more financially sound for them to run playoffs for this season into next season and shorten next season than cancel playoffs.

That's their bread and butter

First of all, whoever wins the title, will have earned it. There is no "asterisk" other than to notate why the season was finished how it was, whether that be with playoffs and a title...or just cancelled.

Assuming the season is finished, it won't be for Lebron or anyone else. It will be because of money and the opportunity for the NBA to basically own the summer. If they can finish the season, especially if they are the first professional league to start having games again, they will likely pick up some new fans who start watching just for the distraction.

If they can safely re-start the season, it would be stupid not to.

You telling me this draft is going to be the same as every other one if the season gets cancelled, dumbfuck?

Whether the season is cancelled or not, this season is already going to be unlike any other. While there have been strike shortened seasons and baseball even had one with no World Series, there hasn't been a season that I recall (maybe WWII) where a season was shortened or ended because of essentially a countrywide shut down.

However, there were enough games played to know which were the bad teams and which were the good teams.

The stats, records, etc. don't simply get wiped away because the season was cancelled. Everything will still count, there just wouldn't be a champion.

The only reason to change the draft would be if there weren't enough games played to get a fair reading on how teams rank. Every team has played approximately 65 games which is plenty to make that determination.

I say this knowing you are not allowed to admit you made a mistake, but this is not what I am saying.....I took exception to you saying something to the effect of every team will have the same chance to win the lottery as it's highly doubtful that will be the case even if the season does not resume.

I could even see a tweak or 2 if the season does not move forward. But the notion everyone will have the same chance to get the #1 pick is absurd
