I mean…My only rationale for our 10 pick is that behind the scenes Cole Kmet is just a giant piece of shit.

I have no idea who this guy is but he's in Chicago so I hope he works out?

If they trade Kmet before the draft is over and recoup a pick for him then it’s much easier to swallow this pick. Good athlete with big upside.

Or Loveland is basically Evan Engram and plays as your WR3 in this new offense….then it makes a little sensenseL

Loveland was described as a pass catching TE type. Lower floor than Warren but a higher ceiling. He can play all over the Wr set as Johnson deems necessary. Basically, his LaPorta. Well, and the fact Johnson loves that 2 TE set.

Funny comment by Fantasy Football's Jeff Manns tonight when the Colts drafted Warren. He said he couldn't believe the Bears didn't trade up with the Colts to secure their third Tight End.

Don't think that, but I did point out that his cap hit next year is not very big, so this could very well be his last season with the Bears.

Kmet is a limited TE

Limited route tree and limited athleticism

Zero reason to keep him on the roster starting tomorrow. Trade him.

So do like 22 other play callers

it’s about how often you target the TEs, the continued talk about sets is completely overblown
Interestingly enough, again we agree. I see so many people talk about how Johnson uses a lot of 12 personnel, but never checked the Lions TE stats. This was one of the reasons amongst others why I never had the Bears taking a TE. But he obviously intends to utilize both as pass catchers in his game plans. How much so tho remains to be seen.

Even if you hated the Loveland pick, the one thing we should be glad about is we still have picks 39 & 41 (well, unless.....er nevermind). So who's still on the board after Day 1?

If we're still hoping for someone on the OL, and I'm one of them:
Aireontae Ersery
Marcus Mbow
Josh Savaiinaea
Ozzie Trapilo
Wyatt Milium
Charles Grant
Logan Brown

For the DL:
Mike Green
Donovan Ezeiruaku

Landon Jackson
JT Tuimoloau
Nic Skourton
Brady Swinson
Darius Alexander
Deonne Walker
Princely Umanmielen

For RB:
TreVeyon Henderson
Quinshon Judkins
Kaleb Johnson
Dylan Sampson
Cam Skattebo

Other key names & positions:
Shavon Revel Jr, CB
Will Johnson, CB

Trey Amos, CB
Nick Emmanwori, S
Andrew Mukuba, S

Carson Schwesinger, LB
Luther Burden III, WR
Jayden Higgins, WR
Kyle Williams, WR

A lot of talent, altho at initial glance the OL seems to be on the thin side as far as RD 2 quality players are still waiting. A lot of Edge players still there, so I expect a run on these guys in this coming round. As many predicted, only two RBs were taken and there's considerable talent remaining, so I also figure there'll be a mini-run on these players as well. I bolded those who I think are candidates for being selected before we're on the clock.

Does Johnson know how to run an offense? If yes, then there is a reason he went Loveland. If no, then would any player matter?
And it's why I said intially that I didn't like the pick, but in Johnson I trust. The man knows how to run an offense. I want to at least see how Loveland AND Kmet are utilized before I declare the pick a bust.

BJ knowing how to run an offense doesn’t automatically make this a good pick though. There isn’t an automatic correlation. Andy Reid also knows how to run an offense. So does LaFleur. It doesn’t mean KC or GB can’t make a bad pick.

Roster building and offensive execution are not equal.

Again….criticizing the pick because other needs should have been addressed doesn’t mean anyone is saying Loveland is or will be a bust.

Sounds like someone needed Loveland. I do wonder had Banks been there, the call.

I said I wouldn’t get mad at the pick after our stellar free agency, but Colton Loveland sure tested my resolve. Watching all of the players I wanted go one after another made me think our pick was going to be completely random and it was. I think BJ had a say on it, so I’ll reserve my disappointment until he sucks on the field.

As for the second round, I see us taking a RB and trenches. Maybe even trenches with both picks, which is probably what I would prefer. I think we’ll be able to get a running back in the third.

Just hate these picks that give us 5 years of we should have taken that other guy that was 1 ranked on 29 other draft boards.

oh well. At least he did not get shafted. What the hell actually happened with those trade ups? Giants give up a second and third to move up to 25, but it cost a first to move up to 26? How exactly does that happen?

Time to build a team. Swift was not traded yet, guess he gets a year to see if he gets to be part of a sonic and knuckles tandem here. It was crazy to watch the chargers take another Najee Harris over some change of pace guy, but when Harbaugh passed on Will Johnson I guess the knee issue is real.

Lots of work to do in this second round. Still need another LB, Safety, DE, More LT competition (in no particular order). Lets see how they fall is a busy second round.

Well we could all argue over the pick until the cows come home, but it's obvious that the Bears went with value over need.

I'm just amazed at who we took, and not so much the position we grabbed,as it was Tyler Warren was suppose to be the no.1 te coming out this year.....
There was that chance we were going te with all the talk going around.......so I'm not really surprised we drafted the position we did.......
I just hope Loveland lives up to the hype......
