I'm sure way before we were on the clock Poles was on the phone. It didn't happen, doesn't matter anymore. Get over it.

Im pretty sure Poles and co. has a list for every scenario who they want when one of their players fall.....
Im guessing Loveland was not their no.1 choice to begin with.....

Right now the only silver lining I can find out of this, atleast we didn't trade up and lose other picks......

I'm just amazed at who we took, and not so much the position we grabbed,as it was Tyler Warren was suppose to be the no.1 te coming out this year.....
There was that chance we were going te with all the talk going around.......so I'm not really surprised we drafted the position we did.......
I just hope Loveland lives up to the hype......
Well, you aggravated the hell out of me when you brought TE up after they paid Kmet 50 million, but when I heard 44 was chosen because his father wanted him to be a bruising runner like John Riggins, I got excited. I am guessing they see Kmet as that guy so get a better route runner who can go outside instead.

you got that right, everyone who mocked Loveland was because Warren was gone. At least they seem to have a plan this time around. ???

The reality of this Chicago Bears team, as it stands right now, is that it is a glass cannon on offense and a just a decent defense lacking a pass rush.

We definitely have a decent starting 5 on offensive line, if healthy, but pretty much no depth. One bad injury and all the Colston Lovelands in the world aren't going to help us-or whichever RB we take in the 2nd round as we all know it's going to happen. (Braxton in question, Darnell had his issues last season, Jonah Jackson same thing, and Thuney is getting older so increased probability)

And yeah, our pass rush is meh. Dennis Allen is going to have to get creative and create pressure with blitzes. Here's hoping Tyrique Stevenson isn't talking to the fans when that happens...Bang or bust defense. Gonna give up a decent amount of big gainers is my guess.

I wonder what the medical reports say on Will Johnson.

If he's there when the Bears pick and they pass....that would be insane.

I just keep hearing more of the "we are not sure Braxton Jones is going to be ready for camp", but that was the problem, all 3 tackles were gone, next tackle taken was 29 to washington.

I am counting on creative since Booker and Hardy are still on this team. Stewarts running mate Scourton from A&M would be a nice choice at 39 to get that size DE here so he does not have another small guy to find a way to be creative with.

I miss last year's draft where the picks were so obvious that even we couldn't f*ck it up.

Then again the draft before we blew an MVP caliber player in what should have been an obvious pick because "our culture sucked."

If we ever win, some of this sh*t might actually be forgiven...but we never do, even at the smallest levels. So yeah, it's upsetting as hell when we go against the grain.

It's going to be a complete f*cking sh*tshow if we win 7ish games or less this upcoming season, which is very possible if we have an injury or two on the o-line.

They want to make their bed with a hubris-laden top ten pick of a TE? Fine. Be ready for the f*cking thunder from the fanbase if it doesn't work.

And I don't mean "over time," I mean this upcoming season. If they roll into Soldier on the last week of this upcoming season with a losing record in hand, I hope they get lambasted even worse than this past season.

What stat line does Loveland need to put up for this pick to be a success? Obviously any player drafted after him in the first round balling out will make fans complain. But what does success look like? If he catches 50 balls and 5 touchdowns are we happy? What if he only catches 35 but the offense as a whole is really good?

He's not a blocker. He's coming off a shoulder injury. Won't participate in rookie camp. Probably won't participate in anything until regular camp.

If he's basically the WR3 in this offense...fine. I can live with that if BJ finds ways to set him up with mismatches. But taking your version of Evan Engram at #10 overall is a hard pill to swallow for me.

I hope 3 years from now we are looking back at this as a huge f'n steal.

to add to this a little…

I’ve heard a lot of, “Ben Johnson wanted his Sam LaPorta!”. Did everyone pay attention to how much LaPorta’s utilization fell off last year?

Why’d you draft a TE?

Well. We wanted to run this one formation like 30% of the time and almost never throw it to the #2 tight end. We just think it’s really important.

But it’s cool because our fans trust us despite the fact the organization has been a dumpster fire for decades.

The spin on this one is impressive. Local radio guys are all about it...Commentary about how multiple teams wanted this guy and how all the other players picked weren't that great.

Whatever...I feel like almost every team that drafted after us in the first round did better. That's really sad.

F*cking Chiefs got a possible long-term LT at 32.

This move is all Ben Johnson. Ok big boy...You better f*cking bring it now.

Yikes, I can see the temperature in here is still quite hot!! Thought maybe a nice sleep overnight might bring cooler heads. Guess not. That's ok, let it out boys!!

Anyway, here are some grades by various publications - none of them local, which could spike the grades:

Too lazy to mathematically average them out, but in a general glance I'd probably label it as a B+

And the thing is….this kid could be really good. Great athlete, great size. And he’s still really young. So there’s a shit ton of potential.

But I just don’t see how this is smart roster building. And no amount of spin gets me there.

So... RB and Edge. Anyone see anything different? RB & OT?

Definitely, it's obvious he wanted his next Sam LaPorta. And I agree, now he's got to prove this was the right move.
