technically, Rodgers was like Farve because he watched him for 3 years, just like Love is like Rodgers because he watched him play for three years. In the 2035 draft, after the packers sign Love to a 3 year 375 million dollar extension, my money is on they pick another quarterback first round.

All the whiney Packer fans calling Love a wasted draft pick are as stupid as our fans are for crying to have our new rookie franchise QB1 start game 1. We tried it twice, it did not work, but here we go wanting to try it all over again.

If JF is traded, our draft pick will be starting.....we all know this.

If the Bears draft a QB #1 they have no choice but to start him.

The Packers had the luxury of sitting Rodgers because they had Favre. They sat Love because they had Rodgers. KC could sit Mahomes because of Smith.

If the Bears sit a #1 draft pick it's gonna be to start Tyson Bagent. And you'd be doing that with a defense that is good enough to be in the playoffs and a coach on the hotseat. No way is it happening.

WHat Im not getting is Getsy was there for 7 years,he HAS to of seen how Rodgers skill set was,but never got JF to be able to put that to use......??

Getsy knows a lot about Rodgers. He sat down with Fields and watched tons of Rodgers tape and tried to apply Rodgers footwork and dropback to Fields.

The problem is Fields isn’t Rodgers. Fields is much more in the mold of a Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. And his coaches should see that and apply that to the offense.

Getsy wants players to fit his scheme rather than the other way around.

Just a guess but I'm pretty sure Getsy just carried the title of OC and never called plays in GB. That was LeFleur.

I had a discussion similar to this on twitter last week. The guy basically said how can you blame Getsy for Field's shortcomings when he was in GB and coached Rodgers/Love.

The title of OC loses luster when you are behind a HC like LaFleur, Shanahan, or Reid. Those guys are the true OCs in those systems.

Here's the list of free agents, restricted and unrestricted:

It's the unrestricted that matters most. I've bolded the ones I think should be extended:

CB Jaylon Johnson - Extend him, tag him, whatever, just make sure he's our starting CB next season and hopefully beyond.
WR Darnell Mooney
DE Yannick Ngkoue
DT Justin Jones - His numbers showed a nice uptick once we obtained Sweat. We could use his depth at the DT spot.
C Lucas Patrick
G/C Dan Feeney
TE Robert Tonyan
DE Rasheem Green
RB D’Onta Freeman
TE Marcedes Lewis
LS Patrick Scales - No need to try and find a new LS when we have a solid steady Eddy already.
WR Equanimeous St. Brown
WR Trent Taylor
LB Dylan Cole

It's not that I want to see all the others walk, altho most of this group won't be here next season regardless. Those three are my priorities.

Our own Richard Hightower will be coaching the East team in the Shriner's Bowl:

It's the second year in a row a Bears coach will be running one of the senior teams. Last year was Getsy in the Senior Bowl. Hope this isn't an omen for Hightower. :nono:

Honestly, on paper, the packers look like they know how to develop QBs. And that is very true in reality. The problem with their strategy is they have about a 1-2 year window where they have the QB on a cheap contract and can pay the rest of the team a ton. When Love is making 30-50% of what the entire offense makes, it makes it a lot harder to build a dominant team. Love may very well have a Dan Marino type career where he is great, but the rest of the team can’t hold up. He might also win it this year or next, or get lucky after that.

Didn’t we get very interested in Darnell Wright and Tyson Bageant from the senior bowl? I could be wrong, but they seem like pretty decent adds.

Nice memory. In fact, what you mentioned got me curious, so a little research confirms the Senior Bowl turned out to be a pretty good source for future Bears:

Four draft picks and an UDFA. And all have contributed, including two starters. I think it's fair to say the Bowl paid off for us.

Nice take........I totally agree.
If Harbaugh truly wants out of Michigan,he should give the McCaskeys a call, his self, not his agent, his self.

But what Im sitting here stewingg about, where is the woord from Poles or Warren on the outcome from our own coaching problems......??

I would of bet a dollar to a donut that Getsy would have been gone yesterday....but no word is making me think the whole staff stays.....which also means JF is staying.( but thats for a different thread)
He is interviewing but Harbaugh may very well stay in Ann Arbor. Especially, if he gets a raise and immunity from the sanctions that are likely coming...

Foreman did the most off this list and his thanks were healthy scratches because Homer plays special teams, like we dont have extra DB's and LB already. He cannot get out of town soon enough. We already extended Billings, and Dexter and Pickens were big draft day wins. They dont get the big numbers, but most of these systems are concentrating on making the DT's tie up blockers so the o line cant get to the second level which allows the linebackers to tackle. Lewis solidifies the TE room, but you gotta think if he continues to play he is looking for a ring.
We also know just tagging a guy does not guarantee he plays. Jaylon is pretty entrenched in the guaranteed numbers he is looking for. The reports were he was only offered 5/93. That yearly number needs to get over 20. I can see him still holding out if they tag him.
