Granted, it's only a 3 game preseason, but even when there were 4 games, I don't ever recall having 3 of the 4 shown live, at least not for those of us who don't live in the Chicagoland area. I'm guessing the locals get every game, preseason or not. Every year we out-of-staters would be lucky to catch one game live, let alone all three. So I'm looking forward again to see Fields of course, being that he's starting. But even more so watching those who are on the bubble. It's do or die for a number of them.

Yeah, I was very happy when I looked at the pre-season schedule this year and saw that all 3 were on NFL Network. I always go to the same local bar with the ticket for regular season games. But Sunday Ticket doesn't carry pre-season.

We even had our local broadcast team the first two games. Not today, though.

Damnit... Great defensive play for a TD. But this just means Fields is only going to wind up getting a few possessions. Which is good since I don't want him hurt, but I was looking forward to seeing him tonight.

Helluva play and throw by Fields. Great way to end his pre-season.

Yeah that was a great throw. It was a pretty tight coverage but the defender's head was turned and Fields (while scrambling) threw it at the only spot available that would give his receiver a chance. Pretty sweet throw.

Overall observations:

*The D made a couple of key plays for INTs, one that resulted in a 6 points. But their tackling for much of the game, especially on run plays around the line of scrimmage left something to be desired. I can only imagine how many yards Derrick Henry would have gobbled up had he played.
*Fields looked a lot better in the 2nd quarter when Nagy opened up the playbook a bit, mainly by allowing him to use his legs more. And that TD pass to Jesper Horsted was perfectly thrown where no one but he could snag it.
*Speaking of Horsted, the man could not have done humanly more to try and make the team as the 4th TE. Just an outright excellent performance by him. If there was such a thing as preseason player of the week, I'd put him right up there for the award. However, I suspect by the amount of time he played vs no appearance at all by JP Holtz suggests that the latter will make the cut, with Horsted going to the practice squad.
*I think Rodney Adams and Kahlil Herbert secured spots on the final roster. Herbert more for some decent ST runs than what he did out of the backfield.
*Iggy had a good game in his limited time out there, but I still think he won't make the cut.
*Duke Shelley played well too, not sure if he's on the bubble tho. If he is, was it enough to get him over the hump? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
*Same with Josh Woods. Decent play tonite, but was it enough?
*I like Dazz, but I'm not sure if he had sufficient opportunities to guarantee himself the team's 6th WR. I hope so.
*I'll say the same about Charles Snowden, my offseason pick to be the one UDFA who had a real shot at making the team. Again, not sure he did enough to make the cut.

Heck of a 2 min drill by Fields to end the half. Tells me the kid would be fine to start the season, or whenever he gets the nod.

The one reason.....the ONLY reason I'm glad Fields doesn't start next week is because I want to see how well or poorly the line protects Dalton. My gut tells me it's not going to be pretty at first, but like most teams, even our ragged OL should eventually begin to jell. That's when it will be time to have Justin take the reins.

Fields looking better later in every game he played in this preseason not because Nagy decided "to open up the playbook" but more likely because Fields is playing against lesser competition as the game goes deeper.

I didn't see a prediction of the final 53 man roster from Bears Wire, but in this article they predict the 16 player practice squad:

Gotta say, if these predictions hold up, not a bad set of PS players at all. Of course, it's also assuming that they'll all clear waivers, something of which I'm not so sure.
