Agreed. There’s only one football and only one target at the end of a pass play. Based on the Swift signing, I would imagine that the goal in having Swift Gainwell lead the backfield that the Eagles want more pass game production from the RB position, giving Hurts check down options as they continue to develop him as a passer. In addition to Smith and Brown, you have another mouth to feed in Goedert who presents unique mismatches. I’m also thinking of the opportunity cost. Eagles have roughly 12 million left in cap space for post June 1st cap casualties cut around the league or guys like Byard who are hold outs looking for more money or to get out of a rebuilding situation. I would rather the Eagles use that remaining cap to look for a veteran safety and veteran Lb they can add to the roster. The offense is all set. Shit, I would even prioritize another interior OL body for depth over adding Hopkins. The Eagles need a slot but you’re not playing to Hopkins strengths if that’s the plan for how to utilize him in my opinion.I honestly can't see him being a good fit on the Eagles when they have A.J. and Smith there already who can do pretty much everything he can. Maybe I'm missing something there but it just doesn't make sense to me.
