No team was going to pay Hopkins $20M for this season. Why the Cards couldnt find a trade.

Fans of that franchise lucked out when Keim stepped down. Dude was terrible in so many different areas. Handing Hopkins a ridiculous extension after they traded for him is just example #245.

they belong in St Louis like the Oilers belonged in Houston.
We'd definitely have to turn back the clock to get that done.

Im just thinking that Arizona fans are going to be very scarce next year. Thats going to be an 0-17 team

I bet they win 2 games
AND...IMO, there aren't many cardinals fans to begin with unless they move back to St. Louis.

Would rather the Eagles use the 15-16 mil left in cap to sign a vet at LB and at safety if they can swing it.

Another case of name value over current production.

Yes and no.

He is still an absolute stud. He finished top 10 in receiving yards per game last year. He still has one of the largest catch radius in the league.

But he has lost a step and isn’t going to run by any DB’s anymore.

But make no mistake about it. If he plays a full season with a halfway decent QB, he is a top 10-15 WR in the league still in terms of production.

I guarantee you there are there a ton of GM’s around the league today absolutely kicking themselves for not planning for him to be available on the cheap like this. A team like Baltimore and the Jets especially considering they gave big money deals to much, much, much lesser WR’s this off-season in Beckham and Lazard.

Cardinals released DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins still looked like a worthy No. 1 target last year, going for 64/717/3 in nine starts after a PED suspension. It's surprising that the Cardinals couldn't find a single taker for him, even on a $29 million cap number. Arizona will save some cap space on the transaction. Hopkins will be able to shop his services to teams directly now, and has been tied at various points this offseasons to contenders like the Bills and Chiefs as well as WR-needy teams like the Titans and Patriots. The fantasy fallout of this for Hopkins could ultimately be positive news. It also elevates the fantasy stock for Arizona's other wideouts, who figure to draw more targets in Hopkins' absence. Hollywood Brown, for example, did not clear 61 yards with Hopkins back. He cleared it in five of six games without Hopkins.

Technically we're already past the June 1 date and the $22.6M of dead money should be automatically scheduled for 2024. If the Cardinals decide to account for it in 2023 then that's their choice, but there's no upside to that choice.
