Well Doncic is going to have to get acclimated in a hurry because the Lakers take on the Clipjoint on Tuesday. we shall see how the James/Doncic?Reaves pairings work out going forward.
Doncic is out till before the AS break I believe.

I have yet to see a trade analysis anywhere that had this as anything but an A+ for the Lakers and an F+++ for the Mavs.

F++++?

Man, you really don't realize what AD brings to the table.....LOL.

Not sure that's what thunderc thinks, I think he was just pointing out that's what others have said.

Those claiming F++++ for the Mavs are just looking a trading a 31 year old AD for a 25 year old Luka and not really looking at what AD brings to the table.

If Kyrie opts out this summer and goes elsewhere, it is an F. If he opts in and eventually signs for another couple of years than it is a C depending on how far they go in the playoffs with AD/Kyrie

Im willing to bet Pelinka is making a crap-ton of calls right now trying to get a Center.

And since LA pretty much secured their future I’m also going to bet that other first round pick is going to be involved

The general consensus is that you never get value for a 25 year old superstar. It’s just not possible, especially without a bidding war.

If it’s true the Warriors were approached I am trying to picture what they might have turned down.

Actually, I just got word that my request to have my privileges returned to post on the Politics Forum was denied. I like to post about more than sports. I like to post about current events and culture along with politics. I’m going to go back to what I was doing and post elsewhere going forward. I never knew that when I voluntarily gave up my access to the PF that this would be a permanent decision. It’s been fun and I really have enjoyed the interactions on this NBA forum in particular. Everybody has a strong sports acumen that goes beyond the NBA and with the exception of people like eagles nut everybody seems like good people at their core who you would want to share a beer with. Be well everybody and take care of yourselves.

You could just post your other opinions in the NBA Off Topic thread. Most of the other sections of the board don't realize we exist down here

But, generally speaking it's frowned upon to talk politics there but it's been known to occur.

Mentioned it a bit last night but after sleeping on it, I do like the on court move for Dallas more and more. Kyrie/Klay/PJ/AD/Gafford with Christie and Lively off the bench is a good squad. Not title favorites but a team I could see making the Finals in certain circumstances this season or next. They HAVE to retain Kyrie this summer though. It's a complete disaster if leaves.

Still, I can't give Dallas any higher grade than a C+ short of winning a title. You just cannot dump a player like Luka at his age in this fashion.

Lol don't you worry. I'll probably be joining you in the near future. They truly despise me on the PF... :heh:

My bad. I assumed that this sentiment was a given. This applies to every team and every situation in the NBA, hell all of professional sports. All we can do is look at this deal and judge it singularly in this time and place. I think it’s very clear the Lakers won this trade. You’re right though in that ultimate success doesn’t come from a single transaction but in a glut of transactions - leadership, role players, complementary stars, etc…

For sure.

You have a chance to make your team better and add value you do it.

Sort out the rest later.

They actually could trade say Gafford and Marshall for a 3 and D wing defender.....maybe get back a cheap backup C. @tlance's idea.

Keep Lively to pair with AD in the frontcourt.

The reason I suggested Lively is because their window is short.

Dealing Gafford and keeping Lively could crush their chances for this season
