How spoiled are Laker fans?

They acquire a player who has been top 5 player in the league for the last couple of years who is only 25 years old for a player who unquestionably has not a top 10 player in the league and who is 31 and they still can’t help but look that gift horse in the mouth.

Like a 16 year old who is gifted luxury car for their birthday who doesn’t like it because it isn’t red.

I’m trying… trying hard.

But they just got older… still do not have a 1st round pick in ‘27, ‘28 or ‘30… and really have no room at this point for further maneuvering.

We’re about to find out how much defense matters because that is pretty much where Nico & Kidd are planting their flag.
Working pretty well for Houston so :noidea:

I didn't like the move in the short-term because the Lakers had some real team chemistry going on. They were 8-2 in the last ten and were beginning to play some good team defense. It looks like the Lakers have decided to begin the rebuild early. If they move the James family in yet another deal, that remains to be witnessed.

The Lakers still do have some decent-to-good defensive players that have shined in the last five games when AD went down with the strained abdominal muscle(s). The Vanderbilt/DFS combo is playing good defense and scoring as well. Hachimua plays a decent Center/Forward and he has been playing better lately. Wood still needs to return after his rehab and Vincent plays decent Defense. Milton and Vincent can take-up the slack left by Christie.

If the Center Kessler is involved in the next deal, then we shall see what the Lakers do to rebuild their team early and continue on.

Actually, I just got word that my request to have my privileges returned to post on the Politics Forum was denied. I like to post about more than sports. I like to post about current events and culture along with politics. I’m going to go back to what I was doing and post elsewhere going forward. I never knew that when I voluntarily gave up my access to the PF that this would be a permanent decision. It’s been fun and I really have enjoyed the interactions on this NBA forum in particular. Everybody has a strong sports acumen that goes beyond the NBA and with the exception of people like eagles nut everybody seems like good people at their core who you would want to share a beer with. Be well everybody and take care of yourselves.
Where is "elsewhere"? If it's not Xitter I'd like to check it out, haven't found an alternative spot with the features and regulars that this place has.

And hope you still post with us sometimes.

James isn't going anywhere, he staying past the deadline....now maybe he asks out in the summer (after picking up his player option) but we shall see....

I have yet to see a trade analysis anywhere that had this as anything but an A+ for the Lakers and an F+++ for the Mavs.

I was more talking about the Luka/lebron pairing. Kyrie and AD is an easy match

Ok, yeah. That's a concern. Lebron has done a good job sharing the playmaking with Reaves, but now it'll be Luka, Lebron and Reaves...too many chefs in the kitchen. lol

That's why I agree with tlance that Reaves may no longer be untouchable. He'd be a good piece to dangle in a package for someone like Claxton or Turner.

I think they take a look at somebody like Claxton on the Nets. Not sure what the Nets would want back. Maybe Capela on the Hawks?

I would stay away from Vucevic now that AD is gone.

Well Doncic is going to have to get acclimated in a hurry because the Lakers take on the Clipjoint on Tuesday. we shall see how the James/Doncic?Reaves pairings work out going forward.

Luka is hurt. Not scheduled to return until later this week or early next. My guess is he's back by one of the Jazz games next week

Well supposedly he is still in charge I thought but who knows. Welcome back man, I’m just back from a week in Japan so I’m still getting acclimated. Quite a place, loved it there.
He’s not. Dumont is in charge and Nico reports to him. Cuban’s input is just that. Input.

The Warriors allegedly were the other team Dallas approached.
That makes sense sort of and makes sense the Warriors would not deal Curry even though it would improve the team in the coming years.
