Tyler Mahle was scratched from his start today with what was described as "forearm soreness." The Rangers say it is an abundance of caution. But it's the forearm, there is always caution and concern to go around. Jack Leiter will start.

Leiter with a shaky first, but he gets out of it without giving up a run. Then he comes out and strikes out the side in order in the second inning. Not bad for a "last minute" replacement for Mahle.

The Rangers already have 3 more HR this spring than for all of ST last year.

If they stay relatively healthy, i think Langford, Burger and Seager will combine for 100 HR this season.

Pederson, Jung, the Ctacher position, and Semien should all hit 20 plus HR. I am bot sure what we will get out of Carter and Adolis, but they could add another 40 or more between the two of them. Then, another dozen or so from Smith.

They could hit close to 250 total, or about 75 mote than last season.

After striking out the leadoff batter in the third inning, he then struggles to find the strike zone. He walks the bases loaded and then strikes out another one. That does it for him. 2.2 innings. The radio guys said several of the misses were close, and were surprised Higashioka didn't challenge a couple of them.

I heard that too but looking at MLB app did not support this.
Leiter needs to grow in his command on the big stage and he knows he is the fav to get a spot on the rotation now

I think the app was wrong. Several times the way they called the pitches, the app showed it very different. One of the balls, they mentioned that it was just inside and Gamecast showed it right in the middle but low.

Overall, if we have an injury this year, I think Leiter will perform well when called up. I look for him, Rocker and Teido to pitch very well for Round Rock, and maybe for Frisco for Teodo, this year.

They are going to have different levels of struggles at times as big leaguers, but I am pretty bullish on those three. Now, if someone can figure out Brock Porter.

Bruce Bochy has seemed to like the way Dustin Harris has swung the bat this spring. To that point, he just hit a very long two-run home run into right field (StatCast did that fun thing where it didn't register any data).

An 11-pitch 1-2-3 inning for Emiliano Teodo, who was pumping 99 mph. Marc Church will pitch the 9th. They have been very pleasant developments this spring.
