I think these moves would be the most likely to be made should the Rangers need to add someone to the 40-man.

Corniell to the 60-Day IL
Robert cut
Winn cut
Garabito cut

Those last 3 would be moves made to add to the bullpen. They could always trade someone like Armstrong if they like another guy for the pen instead of Armstrong. They could always trade Leody should they add an OF.

Basically, Jeff thinks he needs a lot more at bats since he both doesn't have many at bats in the big leagues and because he hasn't faced major keague pitching in a long time. He doesn't expect him to start the year in the minors.

That depends on how they want to structure the pen. With two long guys they might be tempted to add one of the bon-roster invitees. Patrick Murphy would have to be the leading candidates right now, I would think. They could add Pillar and a pitcher and not have to cut Garabito. Corniell going to the 60-day is an easy option for one spot.

Garabito and Robert might slide right through waivers.

That is what I have thought for awhile, now. If Evam shows much improvement at all, I think Leody will be traded. With Smith being the chief back up, there is just now need for Leody. I especially feel good about doing that with Dustin Harris showing so much improvement.

Lol. He has played 3 completely games at 2B. I am not sure if that counts.

Also, I believe he is behind Pillar right now. I doubt both of them make the team.

Evan Carter needs at-bats against left-handed pitching. The Rangers were scheduled to face one on Tuesday. Carter was not in the lineup.

What’s up with that?
Turns out, Carter needs at-bats, period. And the Rangers are taking a moment to prioritize quantity over quality. While the Los Angeles Angels were scheduled to start lefty José Suarez, who has 61 major league starts, in the exhibition , Carter was, instead, getting a slew of at-bats in live batting practice and in minor league exhibitions, which began Tuesday.

“He needs at-bats, period,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. “It comes down to what’s more important right now, one at-bat against a lefty or lots of at-bats against right-handers and left-handers.

“I think he will tell you he’s not quite there yet, and so just any at-bats, I think, will benefit him now. He only got two in the Arizona game the other day. So I’d rather see him get seven or eight or even nine — whatever — down there.”

Carter was not alone on the back fields on Tuesday. Both Joc Pederson, who has started slowly this spring, and Adolis García, who is returning from a slightly strained oblique, were scheduled to join him.
