Lol at all the comments thinking this messes up the Rangers plans. If this is true it is exactly what the Rangers needed and wanted to happen.

Exactly. This is a good move for both parties.

Spend the money on Perez and Senga. If that doesn't work out, save the money for Darvish and get Perez and one of the many other lesser pitchers.

If we need to, we can trade at the deadline or a year from now.

The whole final product does not have to be built this offseason.
Senga interests me and the high end of the SP market to me is risky.

For now we just need solid pitching. We can buy an ace to put us over the top or better yet maybe one develops. We sure drafted like we expected one.

Plus 3 winning pieces to close a game out is necessary. Hard to think we will complete the puzzle this year anyways

Not even reading the comments Heyman does have his haters

He is not my preferred source regardless

For those of you who like to look ahead, cause it isn't all going to come together this off season for a few reasons...

At the end of the day there will be some very happy rostered players and maybe some others who feel picked over and not chosen.

How the Rangers embrace these guys will be important as many are still on the path to becoming major leaguers. We will find out about Perez and maybe a trade or two happens

To me, it is important to remember something when deciding who to protect from the Rule 5 draft. With the way the rosters are constructed these days, it is a lot easier to hide a pitcher as a mop up man in the pen, than it is to hide a position player at the end of a very short bench.

Assuming the Rangers had $80 million to spend and are definitely shooting for playoff contention next year, would y’all be happy about this:

Perez-$19 mil per year
Bassitt-$22 per year
Rizzo-$17 per year
Benintendi-$15 per year
Matt Moore-$7 mil per year
$80 million

Trade Otto & Duran for David Bednar

Those who run baseball teams have procrastination down to an art, or at least they think they do. Lol

So many things have to happen right up against the deadline it seems. Today's deadlines are no different.

I would rather have Abreu over Rizzo. No to Benintendi and Bassit. Yes to Moore
Maybe differ r starting pitcher and a closer. May we Robertson

You say no to Benentendi and Bassitt but i feel those are the 2 guys who will play well across their contract and will look like bargains in hindsight.
Like 3 years from now when we look back at the top 50 mlb free agent prediction list those are the 2 in the top 15 that will be the best values.

Kind of like Michael Brantley and Charlie Morton in the 2018-2019 free agent period

Benitendi did not look like a big upgrade in NY and costs a roster spot. Bassitt looked good in the past but it seems hits stats are not with the QO right? and commitment needed. Rather wait a year for a better group of FA pitchers
