A lefthanded hitting outfielder who put up an OPS of 1.007 this year. 29 years old.
Over his seven seasons with the Buffaloes, Yoshida has become one of NPB’s top hitters, with a .327/.421/.539 slash line and 133 home runs in 3129 career plate appearances. His resume includes four NPB All-Star appearances, league batting titles in both 2020 and 2021, and four selections to the “Best Nine” roster for the Pacific League (like the AL and NL in the majors, NPB has the Pacific League and Central League). Yoshida was also the hero in Game 5 of the Japan Series, with a two-homer performance that included a three-run walkoff blast to give the Buffaloes a comeback win.

Like Nick Martinez, he is another guy who could start temporarily(a year or two) until one of our prospects appear to be ready. Then he could transition to the pen.

The way Santana looked early makes me wonder if losing him would be a mistake. he was way overused especially in high leverage situations early. The pen was as a whole
I guess people have to be on top of this
I’m on the fence with Santana. He had good numbers despite getting lit up in a few games giving up 3, 4 and 5 runs while getting only 1 or 2 outs. There were multiple outings like this after July so that’s either not the sign of a real top notch guy or he was left in the game to long and the manager didn’t have a sense that Santana just didn’t ‘have it’ that night. I always thought he was best as a situational guy facing one or two batters and then bring in the next guy but maybe the team doesn’t want to operate like that.

I always thought of him as a high leverage bridge to get to our later inning guys but they pitched him late innings the second half. But yeah he either ran out of gas or just lost it. His velo is pretty good but maybe every for the book on him or he kept it up too much. I do. It have it nailed down. He is contract friendly and we need relievers but to me we need SP to go deeper or have a couple of long relievers. That might help with the BP strain

If he blows it I am sure we can take him off the roster.

I am not his advice but just not wanting to get rid of him without clearly better options

Hard to manage a RP like that with the rules being what they are.
Yeah I forgot about that. Seems like if he comes in for the starter with two outs they waive the rule methinks

or if the pitcher closes out an inning, possibly. Not entirely sure. I do know that the "3 batter minimum" addition was stupid, in my opinion.

There are non blue mark accounts out the reporting DeGromm to the Rangers. lol

I wonder if that insider kid of a coach is still out there ready to report this off-season. I thought that was fun

Yeah, I think he either has to close out an inning or face 3 batters. It was a rule change that I actually really liked.

Ok, I must have missed that one and probably others.

I’m thinking the Rangers sign Perez to a 3/$35 million deal with larger incentives than normal.
Like $2 million if he finishes in the top 35 in ERA which means he has to qualify (stay healthy) and have an ERA under 3.99. Another $2 million if he finishes in the top 20 and another $4 million if he finishes in top 10 in cy young voting for AL.

Basically $11 AAV but up to $19 million if he stays on track.

I have to think he can do better than 3/35 guaranteed.
